Odessa Carter (Whoopi Goldberg), a maid in the houshold of Miriam
Thompson (Sissy Spacek) during the Montgomery bus boycott of 1955,
walks 18 miles each day until Miriam takes pity on her and starts
driving her to and from work, defying the sensibilities of her husband
and community.

This oscar-nominated film is the story of Ju Dou, a young bride who is
bought by a sadistic old man and finds comfort and love with his
nephew.  The scenes are filled with strong visual images of pure
sensuous colors and beautiful scenery.

A high-stakes courtroom battle pits a veteran civil liberties lawyer
against a hard nosed corporate attorney who is also his daughter.
Gene Hackman and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as the father and
daughter are a real class act.

\movie{Truly, Madly, Deeply}{Oct.~19}{7 \& 10}
Juliet Stevenson plays Nina, whose boyfriend (Alan Rickman) moves in
with her after he dies.  She is overjoyed at his return until his
dead, movie-buff friends start visiting and she starts wanting to live
again.

\movie{L.A. Story}{Oct.~26}{7 \& 10}
Steve Martin stars in this comedy about a Los Angeles weatherman whose
life goes down the drain after his pre-recorded forcast goes awry.
Also appearing: Rick Moranis as a grave digger, Woody Harrelson as
the young executive who gets Martin fired, and the LA freeway traffic
sign.

Nikita (Anne Parilland), a savage street urchin, is forced to become a
beautiful, sophisticated assasin for the French secret police,
balancing between normal life, with her unsuspecting live-in fianc\'e
(Marco Jean-Hughes Anglade), and her violent profession, supervised by
the enigmatic Bob (Tcheky Karyl).

After killing a rapist in self-defense, Thelma (Geena Davis) and
Louise (Susan Sarandon) take off for the Mexican border on a
barnstorming, hell-bound descent into criminality and liberation.

After the murder of James Urbansji (Bruce Willis), a boisterous, repulsive
sexual bully, his wife (Glenne Headly) becomes a prime suspect due to 
testimony given by her best friend (Demi Moore), whose level of involvement
is unclear.  An exciting thriller.

When Angie (Annabella Sciorun), an Italian-American secretary, is
assigned to Flipper (Wesley Snipes), a successful black architect,
they find themselves embroiled in an intense sexual attraction that

In this animated film, the Mouskewitz family journeys to America and
their young son Fievel gets lost along the way.  In his adventures in
the gutters of New York City, Fievel becomes a hero and is reunited
with his family.

\movie{Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey}{Dec.~6}{7 \& 10}
In this triumphant sequel to Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, evil
robot doubles of Bill and Ted come back from the future to destroy
their lives.  Can Rufus (George Carlin) and Death (William Sadler)
help the real Bill and Ted save the princesses?  Do fish have wings?

\movie{The Rocketeer}{Dec.~13}{7 \& 10}
In this Joe Johnston (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids) film, Cliff Secord
(Bill Campbell) straps on a fire-powered jet pack and becomes the
phantom Rocketeer.  Timothy Dalton plays Neville Sinclair, a Nazi spy
who would do anything to get his hands on the jet pack.
