Hi folks

Do we have an LGC rep? Do we want one?

For those new folks, the LGC is the Living Group Council, and it's a group
of the six MIT ILG's that consider themselves alternative and exciting and
not fratly (namely stud house, wilg, fen, tep, pika and et). This is the
co-ed ILGs plus tep. It's kinda a fluctuating group, some semesters it does
amazing stuff, and some semesters no one turns up for meetings. But they do
have a good idea at heart, which is that we should get our non-frat say at
the IFC (inter-fraternity council) whose meetings we just elected a rep to
not attend. IFC meetings suck because there are forty frats and one pika,
and so we don't get to have our say about anything, but the LGC can have
quite a lot of punch for it's small size. The LGC speaker has a seat on the
IFC supreme soviet, the real name of which excapes me. We convinced them to
give us this last year, and it gives us a much bigger voice than we had
before. This matters because the IFC is the people that MIT go to when they
want to work with the ILGs (excuse all the TLAs) about stuff that effects
us. Some of it a lot, like rush, or the rules on drinking and stuff. So if
someone has any motivation at all, it would be really cool if we had an LGC
rep. Going to LGC meetings kicks the ass of going to IFC meetings, because
you get to visit other cool houses and meet pika-friendly people, instead of
being surrounded by frat boys. But it's still going to meetings. I'd go on
at great length about this, only I'm not prepared to do it myself. So I'm
going to shut up now.

Cheers
Jamie
