Tenth Annual Winter Solstice Celebration

Fri. Dec 21, at 7.00 PM

at First Parish of Watertown

The growing season has come to completion and life has withdrawn into
the earth. The trees, reduced to essence, have blanketed the earth again,
the bright colors quickly faded to browns and grays. The birds went south
and the bears prepared to enter dream time. The long nights and
simplified external world , allow the focus to shift to the internal world of
dreams and visions. The process of cleansing and renewing begins, a
preparation for the new growth to come.

We are approaching the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. In
the moment of deepest darkness the seed of light is born.

Culturally we are going through dark times. What guides us in this long
winter? When everything is stripped away and we come down to essence,
what sustains us?

Katja Esser and Valerianna Claff guide you through a ritual that focuses
on the dream time. What future are we dreaming and inspiring? In the
context of world events what are we bringing into the light? We open up
to the wisdom of the ancients, mother earth and our inner knowing to
deepen the journey and to begin to shape a future vision.

Please bring 12 rocks of various sizes, with a minimum size of 3 inches or
bigger. Do not come with pebbles. Establish a connection with the rocks,
ask if they want to come. Bring a votive unscented white candle with a
safe holder, crystals, a pillow to sit on, a piece of cloth to put under your
pile of rocks, bells, drums, rattles and a friend.

The ritual is highly participatory. Expect to sound and move.

We are looking for helpers to decorate the space and set up the altars.
Please contact us in advance and come at 5.30 PM to the church. This is
part of building community and it brings your energy into the ritual.

The focus is on spiritual nourishment, not physical nourishment. Make
sure to take care of your own food needs beforehand. The ritual lasts till
about 10.00 PM.

The ritual starts promptly at 7.00 PM. Please come early so we can start
the ritual on time. The door will be open 30 min. before.

There is a suggested donation $10 - $20 (sliding scale) or talk to us in
advance if money is holding you back, and maybe you can provide us with
a service.

Kindly respond if you plan to come. For further information call Katja at
(617) 926-3128 or Valerianna at (401) 521-1161
