Subject: Fwd: Reminder: Upcoming blood drive...February 11th - 14th

Forward-----

Let me start off by thanking everyone who came to donate blood or
volunteer at our drive in December. We collected more than 250 usable
pints of blood. On behalf of the Red Cross, thank you for saving
lives.

The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at MIT from Monday, 2/11
through Thursday, 2/14 in La Sala on the second floor of the Student
Center (W20). The drive will run from 12 noon until 6 PM each day.
By giving blood or by volunteering your time at the blood drive, you
can help save lives.

As hard as it may be to believe after the amazing donor response last
September, blood levels for at least some types of blood have already
dropped down to pre September 11th levels. Please remember that blood
is needed all year round, and that it is as important that you donate
blood now as it was in September.

Also please note that last fall new restrictions were implemented on
potential donors who've spent time in Europe. Please see the top of
our web page at http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/ for more details.

The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To
make an appointment, fill out the form at:

    http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.

We are hoping to have enough MIT people helping out during this drive
to get people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off of
the Red Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're welcome
to donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. All these efforts are
important to the drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
<bd-volunteers-request@mit.edu>
