Would anybody be willing to write a short little blurb about pika for the
LBGT's rush pamphlet? They are including all houses that are lesbian,
bisexual, gay and transgender friendly. see below for more details.
i'm not much good at writing this kind of stuff, i know some of you are.
if you'd like to write it, just tell me so and then send your blurb to the
appropriate person listed below. thanks.

assimilator,
Sarah

Dear Rush Chairs,

Looking for another chance to reach incoming students?

The Living Pink Guide provides a useful opportunity for you to
introduce your living group to students who might not otherwise have
considered stopping by. We also hope it will help students get
answers to questions they might otherwise be hesitant to ask.

This year, living-pink@mit is working to introduce lesbian, bisexual,
gay, and transgender (LBGT) students to welcoming living groups. With
that in mind, we are producing a short guide to LBGT-friendly living
groups. In the past, it has been distributed to freshmen in the
following ways; note that details may change this year, as the details
and timing of rush and orientation are changing:

 * A pamphlet has been distributed at the residence midway, as well as
through participating houses and at LBGT events throughout orientation.

 * A web version will be made available, linking to appropriate sites.
The web site is being sponsored by the LGC [1].

 * Working with the Tech - some years, in their guide to Rush,
they indicated houses that were participating in Living Pink.

To make this guide possible, we will need your help. In order to
allow every living group to represent itself, we are requesting that
each dormitory and FSILG interested in participating submit a 100-150
word blurb about themselves. These entries can talk about your living
group in general, be more specifically geared toward LBGT students, or
a combination of the two.

We have included a sample entry below; feel free to emulate it, or to
do something completely different. You may want to gather quotes and
other information from LBGT people in your living group. In any case,
please do clear your submission with your official Rush Chair.

> XYZ House
>
> XYZ is a laid-back, coed fraternity with about thirty members.
> Located in the middle of the Charles River, we are a refreshing five
> minute swim from campus. When we're not diving for seaweed or
> watching SeaquestDSV, we can usually be found tooling away in our
> rooms. The house is very social on weekends, and we have loud
> underwater parties once a month. Our neighbor Bob cooks us dinner
> every night; all residents are expected to help out around the house
> once a week.
>
> XYZ welcomes members of all sexual orientations. Because we're such
> a laid-back bunch of people, we don't generally make a big deal
> about much of anything. There are people in the house who are out,
> and some of them are active in campus LBGT politics. Says our
> anything-but-straight Rush Chair, "I can't imagine anyone feeling
> unwelcome here, no matter what their sexual orientation."

Also, feel free to look at last year's guide (following
links from the other pages) for inspiration.

How to submit: http://web.mit.edu/lgc/living-pink/submit.html

When to submit: ASAP! Seriously, we'd like to have a first draft up
for Campus Preview Weekend, so please send us your info by Wednesday,
April 3.

Thanks for your time!
