ENTERPRISE JAVABEANS(TM) 1.1 SPECIFICATION PUBLIC DRAFT RELEASED.
This represents a new and enhanced release of the Enterprise 
JavaBeans (EJB) specification. Enhancements to the specification 
focus on development and deployment of distributed applications, 
mandatory support for entity beans, and cross-server portability

JAVABEANS(TM) DEVELOPMENT KIT 1.1 RELEASED. The JavaBeans 
Development Kit (BDK) supports the development of JavaBeans

JAVA NAMING AND DIRECTORY INTERFACE(TM) (JNDI) TUTORIAL UPDATED.

HOTJAVA(TM) BROWSER 3.0 FCS. The HotJava Browser 3.0 is a 
full-featured,lightweight Web browser, that includes JavaScript(tm)

JAVA SERVLET DEVELOPMENT KIT (JSDK) 2.1 RELEASED. The Java Servlet 
Development Kit Version 2.1 is a full reference implementation of 
the Java Servlet API Specification 2.1. The Java Servlet API is a 
Standard Extension to the Java platform that provides Web 
application developers with a mechanism for extending the

JAVA HOTSPOT(TM) PERFORMANCE ENGINE 1.0 INTEL PLATFORM RELEASED. 
This release provides the Java Hotspot performance engine for use 
with Windows NT/98/95. The Java HotSpot performance engine adds

JAVA EMBEDDED SERVER(TM) 1.1 RELEASED. The Java Embedded Server 
is a small footprint server for use in remote networkable devices

JAVA INTELLIGENT NETWORK (JAIN) API RELEASED. The JAIN API is a

system. It enables developers to incorporate online help in

JDK(TM) 1.2 JAPANESE DOCUMENTATION RELEASED. This documentation is the
Japanese version of the JDK 1.2 documentation. The documentation

JAVA LOOK AND FEEL DESIGN GUIDELINES 
 
A new publication, Java Look and Feel Design Guidelines, 
provides essential information for designers and developers who 
create cross-platform applications and applets in the Java 
programming language. The book presents design guidelines for 
software that uses the Java(tm) Foundation Classes (JFC). This 
includes visual design, layout, and the graphical hallmarks of 
the Java look and feel. An early access version of the Java Look 
and Feel Guidelines publication is available now for you to 
review and provide feedback.

The guidelines will be published in book form by Addison-Wesley, 
and will be available for sale on June 15, 1999 through major

SUN DEVELOPER ESSENTIALS(SM) SUBSCRIPTIONS NEW OFFERING and 
EDITION UPDATES  

Sun Developer Essentials is a subscription-based service for
application developers. Developer Essential subscriptions provide 
new Java and Sun technologies to developers at a licensed discount 
for a year. New products and product updates are sent directly to
subscribers every three months.

On May 24th, Java JumpStart(tm) will be available as a Sun 
Developer Essentials Subscription Edition. The Foundation,

XML ONE CONFERENCE
 
XML One will be held in Austin, Texas on May 24-27, 1999. The 
conference presents 3 tracks, comprising 33 sessions on the 
latest XML technologies such as Xlink, X pointers, DOM, XSL, and 
XFDL. Java plays a prominent role in these sessions. Among other 
things, attendees will learn how to use XML in Java applications, 
how application design is influenced by an XML-based application 
framework, and how to extend XFDL using Java. XML One also offers 
a two-day expo that features XML-based tools and solutions.

JAVAONE(SM) CONFERENCE
 
JavaOne, Sun's 1999 Worldwide Java Developer conference, will be 
held on June 15 through 18 at San Francisco's Moscone Center. The 
conference offers nine tracks with over 100 technical sessions 
covering the Java 2 Platform, platform extensions, and a variety of 
leading-edge Java technologies and tools. In addition, almost 200 
Birds-of-a-feather (BOF) sessions will be available. These sessions 
give attendees an opportunity to meet with key Sun and industry 
contacts on specific Java topics of interest. Attendees can also 
visit the JavaOne Pavilion, where more than 300 companies will 
exhibit the latest in Java technology-based applications and tools.
