EARLY ACCESS DEVELOPER RELEASE SOFTWARE. The following early
access releases of Java platform software are now available for
download on the JDC:

o Mobile Information Device Profile for Palm OS. The Mobile
Information Device Profile for Palm OS (MIDP for Palm OS) is
a Java application runtime environment based on the
Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) 1.0 and
MIDP 1.0 specifications. It is targeted at Palm OS handhelds
(such as Palm, Handspring, and Sony) running Palm OS
   version 3.5.

   http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/earlyAccess/midp_palm/

o Java 2 Platform Micro Edition, Wireless Toolkit 1.0.2.
The J2ME Wireless Toolkit is a set of tools that provides
developers with the emulation environment, documentation
and examples needed to develop CLDC/MIDP compliant
applications. The Early Access Release 1.0.2 adds new
features and enhancements such as source-level debugging,
support for secure HTTP networking, a new command line
   interface, and new emulated devices.

security model with new features and functionality, enhanced
performance and scalability, and improved reliability and
serviceability. For more information and to download, see:

   http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/

Through application shows developers how to use Java 3D and
take advantage of some of the capabilities within Java 3D.
It can be used as a demonstration platform, or as code
examples for developers to incorporate into their own
applications. Release 1.0 of this application provides the
ability to load scenes from a number of formats including obj,
lws and using third party loaders 3ds, flt and a number of
other formats. Sun Java 3D Fly Through requires Java 3D 1.2.1
   API or later.

   http://java.sun.com/jdc/earlyAccess/java3D/flythrough.html

is available for Public Review as part of the Java Community
Process Program, version 2.0. The JAIN SPA 2.1 Mobility API
is the Java specification of the Parlay API Version 2.1
Mobility interface. The API is intended to allow software
developers to rapidly develop external Service Provider type
applications using abstract primitives that hide the
   heterogeneity of underlying networks.

   http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/jsr/jsr_098_spa.html

available for Public Review as part of the Java Community
Process Program, version 2.0. The specification describes
a standard mapping between the Enterprise JavaBeansTM
architecture and the Unified Modeling Language. The mapping
lets software designers use UML to describe software systems
   based on the EJB architecture.

   http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/review/jsr026/

o Java Technology Test Suite Development Guide 1.0. The Java
Technology Test Suite Development Guide explains the process
for developing a test suite for a Technology Compatibility
Kit and includes examples of testable assertions and the
   applicable test code.

   http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/speclead/tck/

o Java Web Start 1.0.1. Java Web Start is a new
   application-deployment technology that enables launching
of full-featured applications from a Web browser. Release
1.0.1 includes improved update checking and off-line support,
supports most web proxy auto-configuration scripts (it can
detect proxy settings in almost all environments), and is
localized into 9 languages. For more information and
   to download, see:
