The following J2SE products and technologies were made available through the Early Access Release Program this month:

J2SE 1.5.0 Beta 2
The most important Java technology release in years includes new Java language updates, monitoring and management support, and a focus on rich clients for the desktop.

Product and Technology Releases

The following J2SE and J2EE products and technologies were recently released:

J2EE 1.4 SDK Update 1
Now available with several bug fix improvements. The J2EE SDK contains the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8 featuring support for JavaServer Faces technology and is free for both development and deployment. The J2EE SDK includes the latest J2EE Blueprints, J2SE 1.4.2, and sample code.

JSR-212 Server API for Mobile Services: Messaging 1.0 Proposed Final Draft
Defines a protocol-agnostic messaging API for composing, sending, and receiving short messages and multimedia messages. It provides a client API to Short Message Service (SMS) and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) servers.

JSR-086 Enterprise Media Beans 1.0 Final Release
Enterprise Media Beans provide a framework to integrate rich media data (audio, video, or image) into applications based on EJB Entity Beans within the J2EE application development model.

JSR-128 JESI - JSP Tag Library for Edge Side Includes 1.0 Public Review Draft
The JESI tag library facilitates the use of Edge Side Include (ESI) in-markup language within a JSP application. JESI tags simplify the declaration of cacheable dynamic fragments, content invalidation and personalization.

JSR-170 Content Repository for Java Technology API 1.0 Public Review Draft
Specifies a standard API to access content repositories in Java 2 independently of implementation.
