               A Royal Statement on the Estrella Documents

Greetings good gentles --

I have been asked by the undersigned Royals to make the following
statement on the documents signed at Estrella available to the nets.
The other Royals who signed the Estrella documents will be making 
separate statements to their subjects.

Unto the Populace of the Known World do We send greetings!

While we do not presume to speak for all Our Royal Cousins, we feel it
Our duty to explain in greater detail Our actions at the Estrella War so
that the Populace may understand these events more fully.

We signed the Estrella Compact because We believe that the Society must
be preserved and protected, regardless of what may happen with the
corporation.  We have agreed that We and our Peoples will always play
the game we love _together_.

We signed the Demand to the Board because we believe that firm,
decisive, immediate action is the best guarantor of the rights of our
Populace and a swift path toward resolution of the current crisis.  We
made the demand because We believe that the January 22, 1994 Board
decisions reflect a longstanding lack of responsiveness by and
accountability of the Board to the Populace of the Known World.  We
believe that reform of the corporate structure of the SCA is necessary.
We intend to ensure responsiveness and accountability through the
expansion of the Board of Directors to thirteen members, one for each
Kingdom.  We believe that selection of Board members by the Crown
alone is an extraordinary measure to obtain immediate action. We are
committed to permitting each Kingdom to choose Its representative in
accordance with Its own laws, traditions, and customs and with full and
appropriate consultation of the Populace.  We, further, believe that the
first action of the expanded Board must be repeal of the policies set on
January 22, 1994 until the views of the advisory membership can be
fully solicited.  The Demand is a first step.

We sincerely hope that the Board will see reason and agree.
