In order to ensure that our records about approved *.answers postings are correct, we have a policy about postings which appear to have become dormant. We don't start attempting to find out the current status of a *.answers posting until it is at least a month overdue. Contact with the author is attempted for a month, or with four separate E-mail messages with at least a week between them (whichever is longer; i.e., at least four messages are sent, with at least a week between each, and the attempt never lasts less than a month). If the attempt to contact the author fails, the *.answers approval for the posting is suspended, which means that the author has to resubmit it to us (as per the "*.answers submission guidelines" posting in news.answers) and get our approval before starting to post it to *.answers again. Furthermore, the posting is removed from the *.answers archive on rtfm.mit.edu. Our attempts to contact you about the status of your FAQ posting have almost reached the failure point. If we do not hear from you in the next week, your *.answers approval will be suspended. Please don't think of this as a "punitive action" or anything like that. It's just to make sure that our records remain up-to-date and that obsolete postings do not remain in the *.answers archives forever. We hope to hear from you soon.
