Inessential SIPB 1. What is SIPB? SIPB stands for the Student Information Processing Board. According to Article II of the bylaws, its "principal purpose ... shall be to provide the M.I.T. community with improved access to computational facilities." SIPB provides services such as news, a www server, programs, and documents, such as this and the others listed at the end. Members also answers questions of all kinds, both on various zephyr classes and in the office (w20-557, x3-7788). 2. Services So, what exactly are the services that SIPB provides? Following is a detailed list. AFS: SIPB has its own AFS cell. It uses this diskspace for building and providing software for the MIT community. It also provides guest accounts for people who cannot get an MIT account otherwise and need one. Some of the lockers (on Athena) provided by SIPB are sipb, discuss, linux, outland, postscript, and tcl. More later on the specifics of some of these lockers.
