\opening{Dear Dr. Gray:}

I am an active member of the M.I.T. Logarhythms, MIT's close harmony
{\em a capella} singing group. Each year our group plans a week long
tour during spring break, and this year is no exception. Last year we
toured from Boston to Washington D.C. and this year we plan to
continue down the coast, this time starting in Washington and ending
in Orlando, Florida. To help cover the cost of this tour, we are
soliciting donations from members of the M.I.T. community who are
interested in sponsoring us.
\par
As we do every year, we plan to sing at several universities, as well
as high schools and M.I.T. alumni events. If all goes well, we may
even perform at Disneyworld. I am particularly excited about
one of the stops on this tour. William Martin, Deputy Secretary of
Energy and M.I.T. graduate, has requested our return for another
concert, similar to the one we gave last year.
\par

Having been on two previous Logarhythms tours, I know the pleasure and
satisfaction derived during our tours from city to city, never knowing
what is in store around the next corner. High school students, M.I.T.
alumni, and students from other universities are always happy to see
us and share with us. I have on several occasions met freshmen M.I.T.
students who recognize and thank me and the Logs for sparking their
interest in M.I.T. during a high school concert.
\par
It is anticipated that the budget for this year will remain under
\$5000.00. Your office has been a firm supporter of our tours for many
years, and I hope that you will consider making a donation of whatever
amount you think is appropriate. The Logarhythms depend on the
continuing generosity of our sponsors to make our tours better and
better each year. Please feel free to call me if you have any
questions.

\closing{Sincerely,}
