This is not a hacking list. I think the last thing the campus police
need right now is people in illegal locations. ...oh, and, thanks for

Hi, Josh.

I sent the e-mail out impulsively, given the gravity of the situation at
VT. I'll be more careful next time around.

My apologies,

Ali

It seems poor to show our solidarity with VT by doing something that their
campus law enforcement and ours would view as against the rules at best
and illegal at worst. We're trying to show support, not produce what many
people look on as a prank. It's also likely a very bad idea right now to
ask a hacker to go out and do something that might get him/her mistaken
for a sniper.

Now, if you want to organize a candlelight vigil or something, go right
ahead...

Hi, Ali.

Thank you for your request! EC's Fantasy Hack Fulfillment Comm
is working on your case as we speak, as well as those of anybody else
who baldly asks a 600-person mailing list to commit their illegal
activities for them.

And nice stereotyping. Perhaps after this you could email all of
senior-house asking for intoxicating substances, or all of wherever it is
you live asking for hopeless irrelevance?

I'm glad to see that your administration's campaign promise of "defending
hacking" so far seems to be analagous to "being a fucking idiot".

Hey, let's *not* start a flamewar over this. I know this looks like flamebait,
but I think it would be wrong to trivialize the incident at Virginia Tech. So
chill out.

Um, where did Dennis trivialize what happened at Virginia Tech? I saw Dennis
(correctly,, IMO) flaming Ali for having sent an email that was indiscreet,
blatant stereotyping, and demonstrating tremendous ignorance of hacking, and
mocking the fact that Ali got elected as UAVP partly based on his claims of
support for hacking. None of which actually has anything to do with the
shooting - the shooting just sparked it.

People flaming on ec-discuss? Oh noes!
