Petit Bougnat, Le (1969) 1969 [Rose] ----------------------------- Isabelle Adjani's biographical information... Biography.. .. Born to an Algerian father of Turkish ancestry and a German monther. At age 12 she won a prize for recitation in school and began appearing in amateur stage productions. At 14, made her film debut in Le Petit Bougnat (1969) during a summer vacation. Appeared in a second film two years later under similar circumstances while continuing her high school education. By the time she graduated, she was appearing on French TV. In 1992, with limited acting experience and no formal training she became a member of the Comedie-Francaise. She was called a phenomenon of her generation and the greatest young actress to grace the French stage in years. The Comedie-Francaise offered her a 20-year contract, but rejected this instead choosing to play the title role in Truffaut's The Story of Adele H. (1975). Hailed by many critics as the most extraordinary screen personality to come along since Jeanne Moreau, she was nominated for an Academy Award for this film and went on to become France's top female movie star. Named Best Actress in Cannes in 1981 for Possession and Quartet and won French Cesar awards for Possession (1981), One Deadly Summer (1983) and Camille Claudel (1988) for which she also received the Berlin Festival Best Actress prize and a second Oscar nomination.
