About three years ago, I was introduced to a film called Ishtar. At first, I was skeptical. I had heard all of the bad reviews. But my friend Fletcher loved the film. His mother watched it everyday. Actually, she is Adele Hugo, the second daughter of the great French poet. The Lt Pinson does not answer to her love and made her understand it is hopeless. But Adele is obsessed by him and keeps chasing and harassing him. This film about passionnate and obesseive love, and self-destruction, has been written from real Adele Hugo's diary. C. The Driver (1978) first American film (clip) "The Driver" is specialist in a rare business: he drives getaway cars in robberies. His exceptional talent prevented him from being caught yet. After another succeeded flight from the police, a self-assured detective makes it his primary goal to catch the Driver. He promises remission of of punishment to a gang if they help to convict him in a set-up robbery. The Driver seeks help from the player Isabelle to mislead the detective. D. Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) remake of the 1922 silent film Jonathan Harker is sent away to Count Dracula's castle to sell him a house in Virna, where he lives. But Count Dracula is a vampire, an undead ghoule living of men's blood. Inspired by a photograph of Lucy Harker, Jonathan's wife, Dracula moves to Virna, bringing with him death and plague... An unusually contemplative version of Dracula, in which the vampire bears the cross of not being able to get old and die. E. Possession (1981) First Cesar Mark returns to Munich from a long business assignment to find that his wife Anna is leaving him for what he supposes is another man. It turns out that she leaves both her husband and her lover, Heinrich, for a supernatural encounter with a strange creature in an empty apartment. F. L'Ete Meurtrier (1983) another Cesar (clip) Write something here G. Subway (1985, double') Fred is living in the Paris Metro system. He is blackmailing Helena, whose safe he has robbed. Fred has various 'friends' all living in this sureal setting. The Roller is a rollerskating bag snatcher and Big Bill is a 'strongman'. The blackmail and Freds relationship with Helena and her heavies make up the bulk of the plot but on the side are Freds attempts to start a band using buskers from the Metro. H. Sister of writer Paul Claudel, her enthusiasm impresses already-famous sculptor Auguste Rodin. He hires her as an assistant, but soon Camille begins to sculpt for herself and for Rodin. She also becomes his mistress. But after a while, she would like to get out of his shadow... J. La Reine Margot (1994) (clip) A bloody depiction of the lives of the Catholic Queen Margot and her Protestant husband Henriaround the time of the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre. K. Diabolique (1995) The wife and mistress of a cruel school master collaborate in a carefully planned and executed attempt to murder him. The plan goes well until the body, which has been strategically dumped, disappears. The strain starts to tell on the two women as a retired police investigator who is looking into the disappearance on a whim begins to think that they know more than they are telling, and their mental state is not helped when their victim is seen, apparently alive and well by one of the pupils.
