Hi, my name is Matthew Gray, and I am a member of MITAAH, the MIT Atheists, Agnostics and Humanists. Our group is organizing an activity for April tentatively titled "Ask the Chaplains". The goal of this event is to create an opportunity for people to learn about religions that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to. The format of the event is envisioned as follows: A panel of half a dozen to a dozen chaplains (or other individuals with some expertise in a particular faith), each can give a brief description of their faith, with the bulk of the event being composed of a moderated question and answer session. The reason we want to do this has stemmed from a number of activities we have run so far. In our discussions (many of which have been joint discussion groups with the GCF), we have realized that our, and other people's, knowledge of religions other than the one in which they were raised is often very limited. Our hope in running an activity like this is to expand this knowledge. The event will be held on April 14th, from 7 to 9pm, in room 1-390. MITAAH will have extensive publicity for the event, including drop posters. If you would be interested in participating in our panel, or know of someone who would be a good candidate for the panel, please let me know. If you have any other questions, please email me.
