Greetings. I have dealt with the request below by unmounting
user.mycroft from /afs/sipb/user/mycroft, in order to comply with the
minimum touching of the contents of mycroft's home directory.

I have told stopit and mycroft that I will remount the volume if

1) mycroft consents to my rm'ing the files in question
2) stopit informs me that the issue is otherwise resolved.

        - Nathan

Nathan,

I promised I would get back in touch with you after I had conferred
with MIT's legal counsel on the situation with user mycroft and the
MPAA complaint that MIT is providing the DeCSS/Circumvention Device
at the MIT web site http://mit.edu/afs/sipb/user/mycroft/css-auth .

I have now talked with the MIT Intellectual Property Council. Based
upon that discussion, the files in question must be removed from the
AFS SIPB cell (and, for that matter, from all file space operated by
MIT) within 48 hours of this notice, or not later than 9:00 pm EDT
October 25, 2000. Further, they may not be made available from any
privately owned machine connected to the MIT network.

Should you disregard this request, the MITnet Manager is prepared to
remove SIPB from the network.

Please confirm to me that you have removed this site so that I can
communicate that fact to the MPAA.

Tim McGovern for MIT Stopit
