	In my UROP for DCNS this term, I will be getting familiar with
the network in general, in preparation for another project to be
announced.  Networks are the future of computing, and this UROP will
give me a good chance to get extra insight into the field that I could
not get in a class.  To this end, I will start out by working on a few
different projects. 
	The first project is writing a simple finger daemon for a new
machine.  The setup of the machine may also be a part of this project.
I will be gaining extra insight into how X workstations work with the
network.
	The other project is doing some work with discuss meetings.  I
will be taking a backlog of a mailing list and splitting it up into
individual transactions in a discuss meeting.  With this project, I
will be getting experience with the kinds of services DCNS is trying
to make available to everyone on campus.
	Projects will be added or deleted to this list as the term
progresses.  I will eventually be working on porting applications like
discuss and mail to more non-Unix-like platforms, like MS-DOS or
OS/2-based machines.
