Here's the naming proposal I've sort of scratched up over the past couple weeks. First, there's the list of workstations that will definitely need new names: ps/2 70 (DOS) cutter-john (or new name 1?) new 486 new name 1 (or cutter-john?) mac II banana-sr powermac new name 2 rs/6k 220 new name 3 We'll have to decide whether we want cutter-john the name to stay with the PS/2 (which will be running DOS instead of OS/2 after we get the new 486) or to move to the new 486. The more complicated decision appears with the issues that have come up recently about office machine naming... This is an ideal time to deal with these issues, so I'm bringing them up. The two issues are: A. hodge/podge vs. hodge-podge B. deathtongue/bill-the-cat vs. dt+btc or btc+dt deathtongue/ dt+btc btc+dt bill-the-cat hodge/podge 1 2 3 hodge-podge 4 5 6 on ds5000 hodge-podge 7 8 9 on ds3100 I propose that the SIPB vote on these top 9 options and whittle down the options until one of them gets 1/3 of the voting population's support. ---------- new name possibilities (We'll need to choose 3 to 5 of these) tess-turbo limekiller lola-granola opus yaz-pistachio portnoy (assuming we find a new name for xcluster) pickled-herring dandelion-patch bart-savagewood gene-simmons l-h-putgrass lying-naked-in-the-periwinkle (lnitp) Send suggestions for additional new names to me... Send flames on any of this to me personally, NOT to the list... Thanks.
