Since Rappea hasn't left the Kesselar and since he finally gets a chance to say what he wants to without getting interrupted, he speaks... "I'm really sorry that this meeting became so confrontational. I wish that I had a fool-proof way to get you to trust me and to understand just how desperate I am. It's funny that I've dealt with the fates of the inhabitants of entire systems before without a secodn thought, but now that the matter is personal that I am so powerless. I came here intending to tell you what I suspected was going to happen to me. I'll do so anyway. If you tell the MIs, then I'm a dead man - just sooner rather than later. About six months ago, the Militant Imperators - MIs - contacted the People's Military Revolution - the PMR - here on Igeshi. The PMR is made up primarily of Igeshi outcasts - mutants, criminals, off-worlders stranded here. They believe, probably rightly, that the Igsehi government has cheated them out of their rights and is oppressing them. In any case, the MIs contacted the PMR and told them that the Imperium sympathized with their cause and that the Imperium would be willing to fund them and convertly train and equip them so that they could overthrow the current Igeshi governement. The PMR fell for it hook line and sinker. Meanwhile, the same MIs contacted the Igeshi government and told the government that the Imperium would help with the "mutant problem" here on Igeshi in return for some trade concessions. They threw in some kickbacks to the Igeshi President, his Cabinet and some higher ups in the government. Sure enough, the Igeshis welcomed the MIs and the Imperial military with open arms. A week ago, the MIs, with Imperial backing, put a plan in front of the Igeshi President and his Cabinet. The Aksani Imperium would use the PMR to cause a state of emergency on Igeshi, during which the Igeshi President would ask the Aksani to intervene and help keep the government in place. The Imperium would take over the planet, and after a short transitional government, put the Igeshi president back in control over the planet as the Aksani governor. Now, the reality is that the PMR attack on the Wadsworth hotel was just a precursor. While the PMR was badly beaten, it still believes that the MIs are on their side - the fact that Aksani troops helped to ferret out the PMR forces was just an indication that the Igeshi government is weak - the Aksanis were just trying to protect their ambassador. The Aksani ambassador isn't even on the planet right now. He was never in the Wadsworth. The PMR attack gave the Igeshi president the beginnings of a case. When the PMR kill me, it will give him enough of a case to call in the Imperium troops that so conveniently are in orbit. Tomorrow morning, the Aksani ambassador will be "recalled" to Aksani prime to discuss certain "events" occuring in this sector. Responsibility for the trade talks will be placed firmly in my lap. Of course, the Igeshi President will be following a script and will give in to most of the Aksani demands. After the talks, the President will invite me to his mansion for dinner. The motorcade leaving the Wadsworth will be ambushed on the way to the manor by "PMR forces". The majority of those forces will be compromised of an MI psy-corp commando team that will fire an anti-tank weapon at my limosine, and then mop up survivors with hand-to hand weapons. I'm sure that the entire thing will be filmed by the local media and will make a very compelling headline story. At the same time, I expect my family, now under MI "protective" care to be moved to a "more secure" location, where they will be "safe from terroist threats". They will probably be used as hostages to force my family for either investigating my death or as bargaining chips some time in the future. So here is what I would like you to do. In 24 hours, I will have my people generate false identities for you and for your ship. You will appear to be common folk that my familiy has promoted to nobility for services rendered on the Rim. I will generate a background and identity for your ship and give it Aksani diplomatic clearance. You will then take off in your current guise to the system that I mentioned, perform your duties there, and then come back under your new guise. At that point, I will be able to welcome you with open arms, and make you part of my delegation and label you as "close family advisors." We should be able to smuggle weapons and armor into my limo, and being Nobles, you have the right to be armed at all times with a sidearm. Hopefully, we survive the attack, fight back long enough for reinforcements to arrive, and then we save my family. I know that this is a really oversimplified plan, but I was hoping that you'd be able to help out in that department. While you're away, I'll look into "The One" and see if I can find anyone matching Trovaulds or his ship. As for your mission, I don't want to bias you. All you will need to do is show up, and you should be sucked in. Make sure that you make no mention of the fact that you work for me or that you even have any relationship with the Imperium. Otherwise, you'll be rejected as biased. When I get home, I'll have my family open a line of credit for you. It should more than take care of any of your needs. It will take awhile to let my agents and contacts know that you really do work for me, but I'll set that process in motion as well. Now, any questions or more trust-building that I need to do before I leave?
