** combat strategy notes

  Brontin is intimately familiar with dwarven combat strategies,
  including unusual bits that I will now attempt to make up. :-)

*** heavy armor, surprise, and communications

 Dwarven preference for heavy armor would basically remove the element
 of surprise in echo-prone corridors.  To offset this, dwarven priests
 have developed a short-range, long duration version of the _Silence_
 spell, along with a complex system of hand signs and infravision
 signals (from specially-shielded lamps) for communication.
