; Zydeco ; -*- outline -*- * Zydeco Xiphophorous, halfling rogue/sorcerer, 1st level Zydeco is something of a tortured soul. He was born with the Mark, the strange, shifting signs on his skin from the pact that his grandfather had made with the Dragon. Zydeco's grandfather, Gilabros, had both a need and a silver tongue. Gilabros had gone into the dragon's home, carefully, cautiously, and made his way to the presence of the Dame Wyrm herself. What was said there, what he did; none living know, save the Dame. What is known is that he left with the power he needed to save his one true love. He also left marked, with the strange tattoos of runes and signs, that twisted and changed in response to some unknown forces. Zydeco is something of a tortured soul; he believes firmly in the ``dragon's blood'' theory of sorcery, although he doesn't mention it much. His spells are largely offensive/showy, patterned somewhat like what a dragon would have, and he believes that he must be constantly on guard against the terrible wrath that will one day arrise due to his dragon heritage (most likely that'll never *actually* happen, but he still believes it). He uses a number of different creative outlets to keep himself `sane' (as close as he gets, anyway), although his principal outlet is poetry. He's more than little `beatnik/punk', and he doesn't feel very comfortable in the traditional `happy halfling home' (he's afraid that he'll settle in and eventually loose control and hurt someone). He travels from city to city, preferring large cities as the most likely to appreciate his work. He tries to get back to Greyhawk City every year. He's working with the Dispatch as a way to channel his agression to good ends, and to gain more experience with life, but also to avoid putting down any serious roots.
