Indent: 12 Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 4/30/84 The meeting was called to order at 7:45 by RDZ. In attendance were Voting members: RDZ, DFM, DJB, Lee, WHBH, CBF Non-voting members: RK Prospectives: Chip Whitcher, Mitchell Charity ->MTG APPLICATIONS (and EC) Since process is producing FPE's in the acting secretary's process at this time (or shortly before, you pedants)... Whoever does process next is authorized to use their discretion with the EC and MTGS mailboxes, i.e. auto or reject at will (yes this IS true by the way) [At time of writing there is 1 application in MTG and none in EC.] TREASURER'S REPORT No exact figures are available. We are running over on spb(a) but that is ok bec Jim Bruce is a big spender and has promised to fork over whatever we end up needing. The Student projects are about on target. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT Elections are next week. The stuff for the terminal concentrator has been ordered; the back plane has arrived, and the rest should follow shortly. We should wait on getting a Mac until J. Bruce negotiates a deal w/ Apple next year. We're getting (i.e have ordered) a VT240A, which is like a VT220 but w/ fancy graphics. We had a $13-14,000 capital budget this year to do something w/, and should therefore think of something to do with it (about 10.5 k$ is already allocated actually). OFFICE REPORT The Radio Station complains about a squeaky chair. We all pay little or no attention. COMPUTER SERVICES Someone should put a message in the student start-up to warn them when they are about to run out of money and tell them to use request_extension. ATHENA REPORT Charon now has macsyma and scheme. Either The Tech is wedged or there is some consideration being given to putting a CLUSTER (not just terminals) in the Student Center Library. (Secretary's note: As is well known, The Tech is wedged.) TELECOMMUNICATIONS REPORT RDZ sent a letter about New House; it lost. People should usually check old letters and more-or-less copy them verbatim, to avoid this happening again. OTHER No, sorry, this has been a very boring week and there is therefore no other. (Secretarial aside: The weather has been nice however.) The meeting was adjourned at 7:55. These minutes were hurriedly taken and respectfully submitted by DFM, with the aid of a large spaniel and six teaspoons.
