Chariman gives out new, valid membership cards. Policy: Graduate students same as before except that you must ask for ID's. Undergraduates: Tell them we don't have enough money and we're really sorry, but you must go to Athena. Tell them to come to us for help and if they have complaints. There are very few reasons for undergraduate Multics accounts: Macsyma, languages not available on Athena (pl1, COBOL, apl). Don't worry about high quality output because the SIPB and spook (stress how good the SIPB is for doing this) is working on this. Also tell them that there will be 6 new modems for Athena dialup around Oct. courtesy of the SIPB. CMS: Same except that it must not be able to be done be done on even Multics. i.e. only: TROLL, SAS. Tell them about the reasons for NOT using CMS: Multics can read IBM tapes, it's easy to go over quota and they would be liable for overexpenditures, we don't know anything about it to support them, hard to get more money. Just give them a good idea how hard it would be. Membership election for Nancy Chang next week. Come and vote. Our chairman is forgetting a lot of things. Tour: We didn't get as amny people as we expected but perhaps this is because computer aren't as new and exciting as before. Thanks to all who helped. Note about refreshments next year: chairman wants real OREO cookies. Office Report: It's still here. We got Multics lines!!! but no one told Carla we needed connectors too. The office is a complete mess. Please clean up your stuff and ... DON'T LEAVE HALF FULL COKE CANS LAYING AROUND!! Athena Report: Lots of grad students came the SIPB table at the Athena Openhouse. Aya sent them over to SIPB and now they're impressed with SIPB. Computer Services: General review of our services: accounts, uploading and downloading, some administrative things (SIPB suggestion box), writing cool software. Publications Report: The chariman still has to print out good copies of the underground guide. We seem to have a sufficient number of NETS, NUMS, etc. The Athena documentations are generally not as readable. R/O Report: As far enough away as to apporximate infinity. Maybe mer, aya, etc will like to write up what we did for R/O. We had a booth at the Midway so we will contact the people who didn't show up at the meeting. Thanks to Bill G. for writing the cool graphics/signup program on the Mac. IAP Report: bcn would like to run the Unix internals course again this IAP. He owuld like to make it more hands on, maybe by getting a machine to let the students loose on. Social Committee Report: You must pay Coke Comm or else we will not be able to get more soda for the fridge!! You may wish to order you fraternity sportswear, but do it now!! Other: Simsong will not be able to attend any meeting this term because he has a class that meets at this time. The meeting was adjourned at 20:11. Minutes taken and submitted by mer.
