Execcom meeting report: Executive committee met today on subject of voting for SIPB policy and other random questions (it's not covered in the existing constitution); we will come up with a amendment to the constitution on the subject by next week. Office Report: Default. A mess, as always. Ca$h box is now locked; if you need access to the ca$h box at any point (need the combo), talk to Tim Hyland. Athena Report: Default. Workstations are here and loaded with software (thanks to JIS for getting the RT loaded), but not in the namespace. More documentation for the RT showed up courtesy of Henry Mensch. Athena, UA, and SIPB reps met and came up with guidelines for a Project Athena student liason committee earlier this week. The UA is not sure if it should be an official UA committee. "vssipb" and "rtsipb" RVD's are now available from Charon (these contain /usr/unsupported/sipb stuff, so that we can change things at our own convenience). Athena has semi-officially decommissioned Trillian as a Chaos gateway for the rest of athena; it seems likely that this function will be dropped down our throat. Computer Services: Simson Garfinkel has another flame coming in the Tech about Athena as a service. Telecommunications Report: Macintosh is in Newton, being fixed (needs power supply, on order). Terminals need to be fixed; PWW is browbeaten by the Chair about cruddy state of office terminals. We still don't have an official name in the namespace for STEVE-DALLAS (aka JERKFACE, the RT PC). Publications Report: Inessential Guides are in an unknown quantity in the clusters. Scribe NETS are actually available, but were hidden in a box in the SIPB office, rather than out on the rack. R/O Report: Getting closer; IAP Report: "October is IAP planning month"; descriptions must be in by the end of the month. Planned activities: - Hack and/or xtrek tournament (demo of xtrek after the meeting) - UNIX internals course (wesommer?) - Multics infernals course (srz) [ Stan demonstrated his inability to use single-shot dart guns ] Other: "Every time I look at a C program, I think the operators are in the wrong place" - AMBAR, a Lithp hacker. "But card readers are so much fun" - Tim Hyland, a CokeComm hacker. Other Other: Indian Ambassador to 10-250 is in the United States, or something like that. You are caught in a twisty little maze of sendmail rewrite rules, all different. The meeting was adjourned at 2010.5 EST Minutes taken and submitted by wesommer.
