He stayed at amgreene's house. The $38,000 that the big spender spent were all spent at once, but the system apparently realized it at two different times. (VMA accounting... SUCKS! VMA...) His account has been terminated. Hopefully he'll come by so we can, umm, talk to him. Chairman's Report: Chairman looks befuddled. No new perspectives around. Little Elves Report: What the hell is this, George? " It just sort of appeared there." Office Report: jcb bought an IR sensor for the door. It was about $40. Sometime, he'll get around to doing the req. Once he gets his money, he'll install it. MIT Computing Report: Beth Kevles is looking for people to man 11-115 during the Consultant's lunch on Thursday. If you can carry in a mac or pc disk, you can print 300dpi thermal transfer color postscript at Dispatch for $1 on paper or $2 on transparency. Computer Services: bjaspan says "I managed to completely toast quiche-lorraine last night." (applause.) He managed to remove all the execute bits on all the files. He's going to reinstall it. mgibson is now the boss of the person who deals with licenses, so dkk can lean more directly on the person who is in charge of SVR3 sources. MIT does have the license, so we should be able to get them. alum accounts. jdb says to write a proposal. air conditioning. jdb says something was decided, but doesn't know what. we should talk to kathy. VS2's: jdb says to try to strike a deal with peter. marc talked to peter, and he didn't seem to want to spend any money on us. dkk says that we should try to do parts swapping ourselves. the BITNET stuff is being held up to end-of-year accounting magic. amgreene is the new maintainer of Central_America. Something about doing something about nicaragua.... hodge and podge make poor dialup machines. hodge should be repartitioned for more swap space. charon is a microvax, so it loses that way. bjaspan suggests that athena has dialups, and those might perform better (more swap, more ram, etc.) rumor: NeXT is coming out with an 88k RISC machine. Ronald-Ann Backup Report: warlord is doing it, with the new backup software. According to probe, the Maxell tapes are fine, even though they're not sony's. Publications Report: Only about 10 Iness. Guides left. Do we want more before rewriting the document? bjaspan isn't convinced that it needs rewriting. Other people should look at it and think about it. dkk is 2/3 done with going through Iness. LaTeX. R/O Report: jcbourne handed in the SIPB letter for the activities packet. IAP Report: ha ha. CokeComm Report: Drink Coke. Canned sleep isn't as good as fresh sleep, but it's the next best thing. Other: Athena sweatshirts have a SIPB owl and a fuzzball on them. The End of Athena party was lots of fun. jik, bjaspan, and belville did a performance (in 5-part harmony) of Atlas's HDA. Jik was told that "The office is a pit", and we all said "Hi Lou" most boistrously. Other Other: csmith is here!
