It's gsstark's fault. ghudson: The office is not your dumping ground. Your drawer is your dumping ground: there's a reason it's limited in size. jhawk: People should quit using the second person when it's inappropriate. MIT Computing Report: ghudson: Athena 8.0 for IRIX will probably go beta Wednesday morning. (IRIX 5.3) Opus will take the update. Athena 8.0/Solaris 2.4 should go public July 9. kcr: We had an AFS file server crash yesterday (the second Sunday morning in a row). Same rack as the two that crashed last week. mhpower: People have been using the `hackers' list. Computer Services: jhawk: I broke the tcl locker. This was bad. It probably works now. ghudson: Shortly pre-meeting, mhpower pointed out a software limitation in the shared active patch that we're using on the news servers. Fixing it will require rebuilding the news servers' kernels. So there'll be a news outage soon. jhawk: Where is this documented? ghudson: It was pointed out at about 7:00. ghudson: I replaced another disk on reynelda the other day. One more disk to replace. AFS maintainers should feel free to use the two mostly empty partitions on reynelda. SIPB Backup Report: jweiss: AFS is in progress. Everything else was done last week. jhawk: service.sendmail was corrupt when we restored it. This suggests either backup corruption or filesystem corruption. kcr: Were the copies from both backups corrupted identically? jhawk: I don't know. Offline. Publications Report: jdaniel: There are iBitmaps now. jhawk: We're still missing the NetNews onesheet. nocturne: Missing or short on? jhawk: We're out. jweiss: Move to allocate up to $25 to make 200 copies of the NetNews onesheet ghudson: Second White ballot. People who want to test it under NetBSD should talk to me. tytso: The X Consortium is giving up and surrendering to the Open Group. eichin: The Open Group doesn't exist yet. kcr: Does this mean the X Consortium will cease to exist? tytso: There will be one more public release of X...
