[Motion seconded by jweiss. White balloted.] jhawk: There's a non-zero chance that the office will be open over the new year. cfox: I'll clarify - jis talked to zacheiss and me to be useful in the office in an Ops capacity. jhawk should also be here to provide a radio. I can also do sipb stuff while stuck here. jweiss: The filters were changed in all 4 air units in the office. Maybe we fixed the problem that was the dely last time. Physplant didn't believe me. Office Cleaning Report: klmitch: Office needs vaccuming. Has it been recently? [told to ask CAC] MIT Computing Report: cfox: There were extended outages of maple and matlab. Unknown admin error Sunday-Monday, corrected recently only a few people noticed. jhawk: 1. Sunday - IOS upgraded to a version compiled this year (laughter) 2. Today's Ebus testing caused significant Network Outages marc: Caused Appletalk outages? jhawk: More than that! klmitch: The rastro(irc service) replacement was put in. Was the last decstation. Computer Services: cfox: Sipb zlog cutover occured. marc: It's system anyuser:rl, is this right? cfox: It's in the sipb cell, and so authuser isn't large. jhawk: Issue discussed - summary: nfs locker was worldreadable, so web users could get at it. This should be fixed by index.html. Talk to zacheiss or kretch for details. tb: I want to know what the objection is marc: Only people who can authenticate to the athena servers can sub. It seems like a substantial difference in the nubmer of people who can read zephyrs. tb: It's not a change - whats wrong? gisele: take it offline. jhawk: tb is asking questions that seem relavent tb: I want to know if there is a policy reason. jhawk: It doesn't seem there is a policy, but. There is an expectation that on the zephyr classes that not everyone can see them, and show up with a subpoena for them. marc: Most people consider zephyr a somewhat closed community. Anyone could write to them, since it's not required to be authentic. Changes shouldn't change blindly. Might not be wrong, but it should be discussed. cfox: The change is not from not web accessible to web accesible. gisele: Clarinet service was being paid for by the Network budget. Jeff no longer wants to pay from that budget. For us to have a continued service starting RSN, it will cost 6900 for a 1yr sub. jhawk: Have you talked to zachiess who was going to talk to jeff? gisele: We're both going to talk to jeff. jhawk: At some point, this was supposed to happen, and we got an increase to account for it. We have about 11k left, so it shouldnt be a hardship. tb: 1. I wouln't object to SIPB paying. 2. It's a benefit to the MIT at large. Might touch different interests at MIT, so AI and LCS should help pay. gisele: I'm going to talk to jis and others with money power, to work things out; we need to find a long term solution. [The chair asks general question if we should just get it] jweiss: Weirdnesses with the licenses? Read it before signing. SIPB Backup Report: jhawk: zacheiss requested that someone do something. (laughter) cfox: He just said that the backups got done and the AFS sent him messages that they were finished. jhawk: UFS happened last week, and AFS happened today. Publications Report: jhawk: We're ok. Orientation Report: gisele: It's far away. IAP Report: tb(channeling xela): IAP starts in 2 weeks. That's it. gisele: If people have suggestions on what should be covered about "What's athena and why should I care?" send mail to fyfer and me. CokeComm Report: gif: There is lots of stuff. More than 2 drawers full. And not just chocolate. You have choices, lots of choices. klmitch: The office thanks gif. gisele: Request - there's stuff on the floor in people's way. Find it a better home. tb: The candy is in a hotswap drawer and the candy drawer. We could put it in the other but that seemed bad. gif: Most of the stuff on the floor is not candy. Other: jhawk: I want to something the thing about having long discussiongs in meetings. tb: Never mind. jhawk: Most people are wrong most of the time. tb: You're wrong. jhawk: Theres a new CAC manager.
