MIT Computing Report: '() Computer Services: mhpower: I updated the SIPB web server dandelion-patch last night. It was kinda broken for a while today, but that was due to the abuse of its services by a celebrity porn web site. jered: Which services? mhpower: The counter service. jweiss: What's the deal with clari? gisele: I got mail from Cecilia about a week ago saying that the service started on Dec. 1st, so we may have to pay for part of it even if we decide not to pay for it. Then she went out sick, and she's been out for a while. cfox: Is this sick as in "Get Well" cards would be appropriate, or as in it's christmas holiday? gisele: I don't know, but there's nothing I can do about it. It would be really good if we figured out what we want to do, and it's be nice to vote on it. jered: I think clari is a valuable service that needs to be continued. cfox: We get money by spending money. If we spend the money and then worry about it, we can potentially win. If we just worry about it, we won't get money from somone else. jweiss: I'm not sure I agree, but if we go ahead and pay for it there's a chance our budget will be adjusted for next year. gisele: Over email, everyone thought it was a good idea to continue clari. cfox: We have a way of gathering statistics on how much this is used, right? gisele: Yes...kolya sent me statistics, it's getting used. mhpower: A few hundred accesses per day. cordelia: Users or articles? gisele: I don't know. jdaniel: Is the only option annual, or can we do monthly until the end of the financial year? gisele: I don't know, but we probably want to do annual. cfox: How did this happen? gisele: It was punted near the beginning of Dec. and wasn't made clear to us that we needed to make a decision quickly. cordelia: Move we do the right thing and spend $6900 to buy Clari service for the next year. [cfox seconds] [8-0-0. Motion passes.] SIPB Backup Report: jweiss: zacheiss says "AFS did itself and I did UFS."
