Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 11/15/2004 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by jtu. The treasurer is reported to have said "hi". He also says that we have as much money as we think that we should have. Chairman's Report: We were going to do another ISTAB feedback session, but that kind of flopped. The first feedback session happened, but the second one was on too rushed of a schedule, and... didn't. We'll try later. Jen (jtu) would like to nominate Omari (xsdg) for membership. Seconded. What has Omari done? Ike (ike) speaks up, says that Omari has grabbed the ruby locker by the naughty bits and and is running with it... Ike is cut off. Jen speaks up. Omari is doing locker software, and is hanging around the office, and is teaching an IAP class. vote: 5 yes, 0 no, 0 abstain. Passes. Omari will talk to Jen about schedules. Jen reports that apparently, she is sick. Office Report: Jen is borrowing the Handbook of Applied Cryptography, will bring it back tomorrow. John (jhawk) says that somebody should buy sheet protectors. Office Cleaning Report: (nil) MIT Computing Report: The fileserver procrustes was down this afternoon. There is reported to have been a change to the mail system. The change affects only unauthenticated outbound mail, and does not affect authenticated outbound mail. Unauthenticated mail used to go through either FPS or PCA, and from there to the outside world. It still goes through one of those machines, but is now passed to SSA before being delivered to the outside world. There have been reports that the new path is not yet fully debugged. Computer Services: Publications Report: Richard (rjbarbal) reports that we have stuff. Orientation Report: You want to be next year's sucker. IAP Report: IAP is sooner than you think. We have a calendar and schedule for IAP. We'll be putting IAP material on the IAP slide this weekend. CokeComm Report: (nil) Other: Sam (hartmans) accepted a position as Security Area Director for the IETF. He will make the Internet secure for us. He also gets to review lots of documents. rax turned 21. Of the 30 people at the party in Las Vegas, 15 were SIPB members, and at least 3 were former chairs. Other Other: Lex (lnemzer) reports that he got "really silly-looking new shoes". See zcoil.com for information about them. John (jhawk) reports that there was a campus power event at about 12:01 pm today. milq now has autoupdate off, because it took an Athena update patch that broke it. It has been fixed.
