Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2008-09-22 The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by nelhage. In attendance were Voting members: jesstess, nelhage, mitchb, ternus, neboat, broder, jhawk Associate members: asedeno Prospectives: dnawi, rishig, jhamrick, nathan_, afarrell Guests: Officer Reports: nelhage: price is at the CSAIL Student Workshop, so I'm running the meeting. SIPB Projects Report: broder: XVM's RAID is working... it turns out that if you use anything newer than etch, you have no problems. nelhage: While setting up XVM, we've run out of ethernet cables in the machine room again. So, I move to allocate $50 for new ethernet cables for the machine room. broder: I second. broder: The sipb-cups team has been in communication with Ops about coordinating our work for the new printing infrastructure. Office Report: jhawk: The office is out of solder; kaduk has ordered more. afarrell: I have some lead solder I could give you. ternus: "Hey SIPB, do you want some lead?" Other: dnawi: There are new prices as you may have noticed. Pretzels are here, cookies are coming, Jones soda may be appearing, too. There are a couple things in my car that will show up later. I set up something on scripts (cokecomm.scripts.mit.edu) to let people see activity. As always, e-mail cokecomm with any suggestions. ternus: Is there any chance that in the future Cokecomm might transition to not writing dots on the fridge? I'm not saying that would be good. dnawi: I'm envisioning a time where someone checks things every week and updates dots and the website. I don't really see anything other than a screen on the fridge that could get rid of the dots. jhawk: w20color was replaced by a Xerox Phaser 8860. It's noticeably faster and more reliable than the old one. It's a solid ink printer rather than a laser printer. Some people like that, others dislike it. Other Other: jesstess: 6.828 lab is due on Thursdays. This means geofft should be reminded by everyone to work on 6.828. nelhage: geofft, you should be doing 6.828 and not reading the minutes. jhawk: Minutes title? mitchb: It'll be a week too late for him. jesstess: IAP is sooner than you think. The meeting was adjourned at 19:36. Minutes taken and submitted by mitchb.
