Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2013-04-01


The meeting was called to order at 7:31:20 by adehnert.

In attendance were

Administrivia:
	glasgall: We finally had the two ancient PCs dactivated. I
		propose we get rid of them. The one that was zsr is
		broken.
	vasilvv: The other one is broken beyond repair.
	glasgall: It's ancient. We should reuse it or get rid of
		it. Since no one has claimed coatrack articles, those
		are going too. Put another way, the hideous clothing
		on the coatrack is now fair game. The rest will be
		thrown out at the end of the meeting. I don't know
		what the story with old zsw is. I think achernya does.
	vasilvv: What's the story with bill-the-cat?
	glasgall: Ask mitchb. For all things sun-blade related you should probably talk to mitchb.

SIPB Projects Report:
	glasgall: XVM is showing signs of life. Hardy is projected to end
		security support soon, so we're builing a new Precise
		XVM. dvorak42, geofft, and price started on this
		last week. Work is continiuing.

Other:
	adehnert: I move to nominate tboning for membership based on Scripts user support and Debathena.
		[Motion passes 7-0-0]
	adehnert: You should talk to the chair for some value of the
		chair. Not sure if that's the actual chair or the
		person running the meeting.

	codetaku: CPW is next week. You should keep your calendars open,
		especially Saturday evening for the party. Also Friday for
		the panel. We also applied for a Midway booth If you can
		help man it then talk to me. That's Saturday early
		afternoon. It is CPW, there will be prerosh.
	glasgall: We will have two interesting and old pieces of hardware.
	afarrell: Where can we see the schedule?
	codetaku: I'll email out.
	adehnert: Add them to the calender.
	btidor: The link is mitcpw.org/schedule for all of the events.

Other Other:
	bbaren: There's gullible written on the ceiling.
	adehnert: Where? There is?
	dwilson: It's on that Post-it note.
	
	quentin: YouTube is shutting down tonight at midnight. If you
		go watch the annoucnement there's a link to another
		live video. The last eight years have been submissions
		for a best video contest. You can go watch, since noon
		eastern they've been reaidng names of every YouTube
		video. There's been a guy and a girl there for 7+ hours
		reading. 
	glasgall: They're going to rickroll the entire Internet.
	quentin: There's 10k people watching this livesterem. One
		person continues reading names while the other eats
		lunch or whatever. It's going to take 2 years to read
		titles, then they'll deliberate, in 2023 YouTube will
		come back online with one video.
	glasgall: Google Maps has treasure map mode.
	dlaw: Also Smell results.
	
	afarrell: YCombinator is coming to MIT this Thursday from
		6:30-9 in 34-101. If you care about startups you
		should come. Also Rap Genius will be in 3-270 at 7:30.
	
	adehnert: There's some movie on Wednesday somewhere. I can
		give you more information if you want it
	
	glasgall: PyCon was a lot of fyn. Python is getting an asynchronous io library in Python 3.
