Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2016-04-11 The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by slz. He has done work on the Ask SIPB column in the Tech, as well as coordinating SIPB Cluedumps. [vasilvv seconds] [foner accepts] slz: The SIPB EC will have a meeting this Friday from 18:00 to 20:00 in 4-253. We will be discussing grandfathered SIPB policies and SIPB EC voting procedures. We will be voting on policies but not constitutional amendments. acarney: I would like to allocate $460 for CPW supplies. [slz seconds] achernya: I move to white ballot. [white ballot passes. $460 allocated for CPW supplies] slz: The Raspberry PI 3s are back in stock, so I would like to allocate for 5 of them, with cases and power supplies. We ran two events, one of which was poorly-attended and one was well-attended. The hackathon was by all accounts a great event for the prefrosh and was well-enjoyed. slz: Enough people came that we gave away all our SIPB pens. acarney: In that case we got at least 100 people. At least 5 prefrosh told me personally they were going to come to SIPB in the future. I think it went pretty well. The Twizzlers and mochi went over very well. bpchen: zsr sort-of supports YouTube playlists now. foner: We have a cluedump coming up this week on email encryption. We have another tentatively scheduled for next week and one at the end of the month looking into how Uber uses data to manipulate drivers. The first Ask SIPB column got published in the Tech; it's the entirety of page 8. Finally, I have a tentative offer for another Ask SIPB. slz: I have an idea- IS&T will be pushing out Duo to all the students, so someone could write an article on why this is a very good idea. ikdc: A very what idea? slz: The MIT open house is in two weeks. I signed SIPB up for a Retrocomputing exhibit, but I realized I don't have time. If not enough people volunteer, I will need to cancel this. dukhovni: I'm running LimeSurvey, a FOSS survey tool, but apparently it requires SQL. vahle: Last week tdelgado and I did the SDR cluedump; it went very well, and there was high attendance from CSAIL. We're going to do another at the sailing pavilion once the weather is better.
