Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2022-01-03 The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by kjchen. In attendance were Student keyholders: kjchen, amigdal, bds, cjq, cela, huydai, jeffery, jmvidal, jnwagner Associate keyholders: petey Members: agrebe, ashay, markchil, mitimmy Guests: '() Administrivia: cela: This is a heads-up that we need to schedule a power outage to the SIPB office (NOT the SIPB Machine Room), most likely for this Friday. This is so that the MIT Facilities can tie in a temporary chilling unit for the SIPB Machine Room during a chilled water shutdown next week. kjchen: We don't have anything in the fridge, right? huydai: Is the fridge in SIPB office or machine room? cela: Office. There's no fridge in the machine room huydai: Aw. huydai: Also, I can check since I'm currently in the office and can clean out things as needed. Project Reports: cela: SIPB HWOPS has successfully ordered the single replacement UPS and its two very large battery packs. These have been shipped as freight, so FedEx has reached out to schedule the delivery. This is looking like it will be happening this Friday. It's a bit complicated because they need a loading dock and I'm not sure if W20 counts as having a loading dock. It's likely we'll need help getting the equipment from the 3 pallets up to the fifth floor. If you have time on Friday and can help, drop me a line (the delivery window is currently between 11 AM and 4 PM). I can't lift ~300 pounds. [Expectation] kjchen: I can deadlift 300 pounds eazy [Reality] kjchen: I can't lift 300 pounds, but I can help lift some portion of 300 pounds cjq: IAP is happening. Very exciting. We have 3 scheduled things located at https://sipb.mit.edu/iap/. The first thing that is happening is going to be on January 17th with Crystal and Ashay hosting a Machine learning class. Shoutout Ashay btw for doing so much for this. If you still want to run a Cluedump this IAP, that would be cool, and it's still possible. I would encourage you to do that because it's awesome, hooray! Just let me know, hooray! ashay: The exciting thing is that both the Machine Learning and Intro to Terminal class are both going to be recorded and then published to IAP. Other: petey: This is a belated project report, but Swole Tim did a good job with 2026s. Thank you to CJ and Billy and others. There are now a bunch of 2026s happily shitposting in their own servers. huydai: Are we allowed to swear in the minutes? cela: We can swear in the minutes, it's fine. markchil: I mentioned last week about the Python tool that I was developing for my Cluedump to make it easier to work with Python source code listings. That has been released, which you can find on Github: https://github.com/markchil/pylisting. I also posted it on Mattermost. Not sure if this is helpful to other folks but I had an enjoyable time working with the standard in and standard out on Python. Other Other: kjchen: IAP is sooner than you think. In fact, it starts today. huydai: Do we know how many people have signed up to get back on campus for IAP? Did we hit the 50% or went higher? kjchen: I don't think they release this information. I think MIT hasn't sent out any additional information since their last e-mail about signing up for tests, which ended up not arriving to anybody. mitimmy: What happened to that? What did they do since no one got their tests. kjchen: Someone sent out a clarification to DormCon, saying that if you can't get a test, then it's huydai: I saw the e-mail really late until last Tuesday, of which I signed up for a test kit and still has yet to receive one. For me I e-mail covidapps-help@mit.edu and they said it's okay to test through other means and use the international students form to submit the result (though that might be specific to my situation and not generally true to everybody, not entirely sure). huydai: I also finagle the whole testing times because when I signed up for an in-person test through Quest (https://patient.questdiagnostics.com/no-cost-covid-test) there was no time slot for last and so I accidentally signed up for a slot a week later on January 6th. I still went and did the test on Thursday unknowingly that I was going a week early and they still allowed it. Sort of a happy accident! jnwagner: I didn't even see the original e-mail at all (I got the notification through an undergrad) kjchen: It might be because they assumed that grad students have their own living space near campus, which isn't true at all jnwagner: Yeah I'm a grad student living in a sorority, so that's fun. kjchen: We can talk about our New Year's resolution. Did anyone have a spicy News Year resolution they want to talk about? *silence* kjchen: Okay, 2022 can go unresolved then. The meeting was adjourned at 19:40. Minutes taken and submitted by huydai.
