Project Reports: markchil: more projects db. we wrote unit tests and caught bugs. huydai: i had lower expectations for testing. cjq: i am ashamed by the testing discipline for our company right now. markchil: it depends on your product life cycle. i've written more unit tests for sipb than other projects lately. huydai: it is taking us a while to get locker approval from afs. whom can we ping? bds: a lot of people are cruft. just bump the email? huydai: ok. Other: huydai: speaking of rush, let's brainstorm ideas. sipb breakfast? we have a toaster that can make fuzzball-shaped toast. although, is it just toast? cjq: what if the event is just toast? jmvidal: yes. sipb toast. markchil: burn roxio toast. that'll be relevant huydai: do we have enough money for that? we might have to bootleg. cjq: are breakfast-eating people our demographic? huydai: rush is meant for dorms, right? what about clubs? how do they advertise? jeffery: no formal "rush" for clubs. but lots of clubs just dormspam lots of events. cjq: [traditional recruiting] jmvidal: we can brand them with the fuzzball stickers. huydai: we might have to order more. cjq: not a single person took one of the tattoos. huydai: does hwops want to do another tour? bds: server room tours are a good idea. flashy. attracts people. i'm not sure if i'm misremembering, but are clubs allowed to register orientation events? cjq: i don't think so. jmvidal: does anyone know sign spinning? cjq: did you know sign spinning is illegal in some states because it can be a distraction for drivers? Other Other: rgabriel: are the meetings fully virtual or are there still meetings in the office? cjq: in theory you could go to the office for a meeting but i'm not sure anyone's gonna be there. huydai: as long as a keyholder's there. just tell jmvidal, he'll have to come. jmvidal: yes. rgabriel: [INAUDIBLE] i'm down to work on [a messaging app]. i'm planning to write a proposal and take it to next meeting. i want to make it on matrix-based instead, i want to port [INAUDIBLE] and add pictures. cjq: okay but what about zephyr? bds: NO MORE ZEPHYR! rgabriel: [INAUDIBLE] bds: in the past a person of the kerb fsdi321 worked on uplink. idk what the status is, but you might want to check with them. jmvidal: that's bowen. bowen wu. rgabriel: [INAUDIBLE] cjq: so, interstellar? jmvidal: i worked on the project a bit before, but i don't have the most recent work for it. it's probably somewhere. rgabriel: well i'll bring a proposal next monday. huydai: sounds good! can always publicize. question is how it's different from existing solutions. rgabriel: this will be explained in the proposal! huydai: we don't have a lot of visibility for students working on scripts or mirrors. before we try to recruit students, we need to understand project needs first. rgabriel: rush? huydai: for sure, but we need projects before that. see may 16 meeting? but part of the discussion was that we need people who are committed to learn, we need critical mass and then go to the cruft. afs, scripts, mirrors. ask about current work, what they need. huydai: firehose? cjq: right i'll get it. was busy this summer oops. The meeting was adjourned at 19:53. Minutes taken and submitted by cjq.
