Previously had $100. Given. TREASURER'S REPORT MTD: 5,997.16 (SIPB/SIPBADMIN 813 --- 14%) YTD: 31,835.98 Last week 2,294 It would be nice if the disk storage percentage were reported. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT A letter will be to Physical Plant tomorrow asking how much the renovations of the Student Center Library rooms will cost. We got a letter from Bob Cavanaugh of the CRSP Committee asking if we would like this included in the IPS move. ZRM has written the letter describing the work that needs to be done: electric outlets, air conditioning, tables, anti-static carpeting, phones, etc. It will also mention the work that will be necessary to turn the current terminal room back into a conference room. WER saw the plans for our Bldg 11 office. It is 14'x26' (364 sq.ft.), which is smaller than the current office. There will be a window into the terminal room, and we will be right near the PAI office, documentation, and a user work area. Several people think that we should ask for more space; we might be able to get more space on the first floor, but this space is going to User Accounts and something else. If we want to fight for space, we should come up with a concrete proposal. The current office is 16'x25' (400 sq.ft.). Let WER know after the meeting what you think. OFFICE REPORT COMPUTER SERVICES People have been giving come_to_office incorrectly. See the office manual. Should Coop users' mailboxes be in the NBDD post office? See the Shakespeare Ensemble's warning form for an instance of a Coop user using their mailbox for free storage. TELECOMMUNICATIONS REPORT One of the new VT100's is broken. These are not on service contract yet. BCN will talk to Eric about this. DEC gave us an LA120. We should do something with it. There have been suggestions to use as a high-speed dialup terminal, or as an office lineprinter for when dispatch is closed. Currently it is up in the EE machine room, and WER thinks that Eric wants us to take it away. BCN will talk to Eric. CBF would like to buy a premade carrying toolkit for the office. We are severely lacking in tools. Motion to spend up to $400 of capital budget on a toolkit. Passes. Motion to spend up to $150 from capial budget on a digital voltmeter. Passes. We would like to purchase a soldering iron; there was discussion about the type we need. Motion to appropriate up to $50 from capital budget for a soldering iron. Passes. JIS came in during this. Our new VT100's are missing RS232 cables and connectors so that they can be connected to things. Motion to appropriate $50 for connectors. Passes. We really should get our Z19's on service contract. People have learned that there was a bad batch of keyboards being produced when we bought our terminals; we might win if we replaced the keyboards now. We should also send Zenith a letter complaining about them. The Student Center line was fixed by RK, WMY, RDZ, et al. CBF thinks that we should order another spare Z19 keyboard. WER thinks that we should wait for reaction from the letter we will be sending. CBF will order one if we lose another keyboard this week. The office VT100 and the McCormick VT100 were swapped this weekend. Unfortunately, the McCormick VT100 doesn't seem to have Advanced Video, either. Motion to order a sixth Advanced Video Option. The terminal contracts for our terminals with Advanced Video do not include the Advanced Video. This costs $4/mo. RK thinks that we should write a letter to DEC that informs them that the terminals have AVO. CBF thinks that $4/mo is too much, and that we should try to get away with not paying this. We are not being charged for the hardwired line that the LA120 is on, but we are being charged for the SpinWriter line. JIS will talk to Roger about this. TERMINAL REPORT There are 2 TTR's, which WHO read. 1). 3 August 1982. The ADP z19 has a broken caps lock key. We decided to take it to the office. RK took it to Heath on the 12 November. 2). 13 October 1982. The ZBT terminal has a broken caps lock key. We decided to take it to the office. RK took it to Heath on the 12 November. PUBLICATIONS REPORT The new NETS with the process_paper description is not done. IAP REPORT Barmar will send mail to the people teaching the Multics and Advanced Lisp courses, to find out when they should be scheduled. Barmar is going to talk to the IAP office about us getting a separate section in the IAP guide. Barmar will be the coordinator. CCC wants their C courses to get included in our section. OTHER CCC got more space in 20C-128. As a result, they will have extra space that they would be willing to let us use (in the old room); there will be room for a VAX. The office freezer has the best skiing conditions in the northeast. DCP will be teaching an ad-hoc ITS course over IAP. APPLICATIONS Sarah Gavit was moved from Multics to CMS because she was mistakenly added to the wrong system.
