Members' accounts are being totaled up and bills will appear soon. Chairman's Report: WER commended the new secretary on taking such thorough minutes, although she suggests that they not be so complete; it took almost 20 minutes to read them. There will be an ASA meeting this Wednesday; Steve plans to go to it. The CRSP (space allocation) committee had their meeting last week. The Mech E. department has most of the first floor of Bldg. 11, and there is probably alot of space allocated to us there. This is unofficial so far, and WER is trying to fiund out something more official. c/, Gill came in during this. Nominations for membership: Charley Marker, Paul Rosenblum, Dinarte Morais, Elisa Barzelay. Passed white ballot. There will be a membership election next week. Nominees should come in during this week. WER will start signing membership cards, and give them out at the next week. Office Report: Remember to tally user assistance on the desk counters. Remember to bring in the ECS plots when you bring in the daily. Barmar described the process of bringing in plots, and c/ described bringing in the daily. Do not leave the By-Laws on the desk after the meeting. Sign up for office hours!!!!!!! If you check the quota flag on the Form B put the amount of extra quota on the form. Sign Floating Agenda notes, so that if the chairman doesn't understand it she can look at you. The SpinWriter paper is bunching up in the hood. Naha thinks that it is due to the location of the modem behind it. TTR's are in JJ's bin, under the logbook. Naha described how to use TTR's. Gill moved that over-1-week-old TTR's should be read at meetings by the Telecommunications Chairman, during Telecommunications Report. Passes. There is an application on the board from a group of students that we gave an account to. They need to be called in order to get a password. We also have to call SEDS to tell them to go to Wes. Computer Services: People have been using SIPB_registrar incorrectly, especially with respect to assignment of person_ids. RK suggests that we should delete_student the users who were cutoff by 9/1/82. JIS noted that when we delete_student people their mailboxes go away. On the other hand, anyone whose account is getting deleted has not been able to use his account for a month. We discussed the policy on mailbox contents. CBF moved that we get rid of 1000 records of NBDD, after deleting the stats databases, old minutes, the old annual report, etc. (after copying them to several tapes). RK doesn't want to move the old minutes offline; JIS will put them on his scratch pack. This will save us $150/month. We are the project administrators for the ISA project, who got money from Wes. We should give them a Student environment. Sinceit is not our money, make sure you know what you are doing before administrating it. Telecommunications Report: TTRs: ADP's Z19's CAPS-LOCK key is broken. MacGregor's DecWriter has a problem with the printhead. Microwave dishes were put on the roof of Bldg. 36 this weekend. They didn't get to mounting on the Student Center before it got dark. They will do the Student Center on the next nice day that everyone is available. ZRM says that most standard DEC cabinets can be locked. CBF found two Bell-212A compatible modems with auto-dial capability, from D.C.Hayes and Sermitek(sp?). He would like to get a demo of the Sermitek. RK moved that we purchase a Vadic-3451 with the autodial option. Gill suggests that we homebrew an autodialer, like the one at at CCC. The autodial option is an extra $50. Gill proposed an amendment that we not get the autodial option; the amendment failed. The original motion passes. Jay says that Lab Supplies spinwriter ribbons are cheaper at Lab Supplies than from Bartlett. However, LA36 paper is cheapest from dispatch. CCC may be getting an XGP soon. Gill wants to know if it would be reasonable for us to pay for the paper usage if they would make it available to all students. Steve suggests that they look into the costs and apply to us with a real dollar amount. DCP doesn't think that they wold be able to estimate the amount easily. Motion to provide CCC with three boxes of LA120 paper and ribbons, which should fill their needs for the next year. The motion passed. Publications Report: We got lots of Tops-20 and Multics Lisp Notes. New NETS and NUMS are on the board. They have all WER's planned changes in them. Proofread them. We are running completely out of manuals alot. The office manager should keep track of what manuals we are low on. There is a letter on the board asking for a list of the publications we sell. Elisa will send them a letter listing th Lisp Notes. Annual-Report Report: The Annual Report is at Beane. They will be ready Tuesday, Oct. 5. Other: Applications: Song, Taiboo - $100 - Previously had $100. Writing papers for courses, updating his resume, and working on a short story. Given. Pollard, Walter T. - $25 - to familiarize himself with Macsyma, because he is taking 18S26, Computer Calculus, but they won't be getting their Multics accounts until the end of the term. He is willing to have a cutoff date that is before they start hacking Macsyma. Motion to reject. Much discussion ensued. Motion to reject failed. Motion to defer until he comes in with more information. Passes. Paul will get in touch with him. Paul called him - he took the course with the express purpose of learning Macsyma, and wants to have that opportunity before the last month of the term, and the professor doesn't know how to arrange getting the money early. Steve moved to give. CBF thinks that he can get the money out of the Math Dept. Given $25. Poole, Peter - $200 - for Troll work. Too vague. Deferred until he comes to a meeting. Rowe, Wendy - $60 - for Macsyma and paper writing for classes. Dokras, Satchit - $100 - Had $100 previously. Given by EC. SCEP (Steve Barber) - $100 - to finish this term's Course Evaluation Guide.
