DLW started reading the minutes of the last two weeks' meetings but CRD came in and took over from him. (BBL, JIS, LAL, RK and Dan Franklin also came in during this.) The minutes were accepted as corrected. C__h_a_i_r_m_a_n'__s R__e_p_o_r_t:_ null() T__r_e_a_s_u_r_e_r'__s R__e_p_o_r_t:_ The treasurer is at the Arc Mac. O__f_f_i_c_e R__e_p_o_r_t:_ It is still here. The IPS Publications Office is considering going into the used manual business. They wanted to know if we are interested. It was decided that we weren't. (OTA and CBF came in during this.) T__r_e_a_s_u_r_e_r'__s R__e_p_o_r_t:_ We have spent $7700 on Multics so far this month. $2100 of that was disk charges and $31 was miscellaneous. We should put it in the policy statement that users cannot charge manuals at IPS. M__u_l_t_i_c_s R__e_p_o_r_t:_ We are running out of quota in >udd>SIPBADMIN. We are also running out of quota in nbdd. There was a large discussion of what we should do about all this "garbage"? We will try to do something. There was some discussion of wordpro dictionaries. We will try to make a good one. The Dynamic Library has been moved to under >udd>SIPB>Public_Library. There is a new more general combined start_up for Student and SIPBTEXT. There is also a new SIPB ttt (terminal_type_table) that knows about la36's and so on. We should write a letter to the computer course administrators about how they are all losing with the Multics environments they set up and the end of term crunch for funds. CAH will be installing a new bound_SIPB_maint_ into aml. It will incorporate archy's changes and move everything of SIPB's together. archy was logged into Multics for the entire weekend because of network lossage. There may be a Multics mail system. We have talked to RAR about SIPB_admin.SysAdmin. He would like to know what we would like to be able to do. 3_7_0_ R__e_p_o_r_t:_ null() S_I_P_B_T_E_X_T_ R__e_p_o_r_t:_ GMP installed new versions of the SIPBTEXT tools that work according to the documentation. We also added a thesis tool which dprints to the IBM thesis queue. Mangoubi was given SIPB_user_1 for SIPBTEXT because of registration lossages and has been using lots of it. No one noted that anyone though. We will keep the SIPB_user_n passwords online the same way we keep the DataComputer password online. Will we continue SIPBTEXT? SIPBTEXT seems to be spending about half of what Student spends. (HIC came in at this point.) We should write the letter for funding for SIPBTEXT which Burner suggested. There was a suggestion that maybe we should go talk to Pual Gray. DLW asked "Can that be done???". Leo Ryan is not going to order the special paper for S.I.P.B. Minutes - Monday May 22nd, 1978 Page 2 our printer queue because SIPBTEXT is only experimental and he would have to order 50 boxes of paper. E_C_S_ R__e_p_o_r_t:_ More bullshit. C_S_ R__e_p_o_r_t:_ JMB willl be coming back! C__o_m_m_i_t_t_e R__e_p_o_r_t:_ It looks like the committee is leaning towards a campus wide net with 5 to 6 VAXI. T__e_c_l_e_c_o_m_m_u_n_i_c_a_t_i_o_n_s R__e_p_o_r_t:_ The phones all work. The old phone was fixed again. The secretary WILL write the letter to Chuck Libby. O__t_h_e_r:_ Electro starts tomorrow morning. GLS is completely absorbed with the blue triangles.
