The meeting was called to order at 19:30:00 by gisele.

Treasurer's Report:

  foley: We have about $2000 left in our budget.
  jweiss: Roughly, how much have we approved but not yet spent?
  foley: I'm not exactly sure, but it's roughly a couple hundred.

Chairman's Report:

  marc: Bye, Gisele.

  yandros: I nominate tibbets for membership in the SIPB.
  yak: second
  yandros: He's easy, since he meets the standard qualification for
		membership in the SIPB, in use since before most
		current actives were members default, old-time
		qualifications for membership: I myself and a few
		other members have mistaken him for a member.

  yandros: I nominate ingolia for membership in the SIPB.
  keithw: second
  ingolia: In particular, I've worked on athena packages for
		linux-ppc, and the Crash Course in C, which I'd like
		to teach again next year.

  yandros: In addition to running CokeCom, he's very helpful in the
		office, and with users, and I think he'd make a fine
		member.
  keithw: He was a vital contributor to my sipb DVD project.
  dmaze: When I threw him out of the office this morning, he said that
		if we didn't member him soon, he'd cut off our supply
		of caffeine.

  gisele: Membership elections will be scheduled later.  People should
		remember that officer elections will be next week, and
		consider the positions that they might be willing to
		accept.
  
Office Report:

  yandros: I move that we allocate up to $700 to buy two new chairs
  sly: second
  jhawk: Move to table this until May.
    cfox: We don't seem to run out of chairs except during meetings.
    yandros: I disagree.  I have been in the office twice in the past
		week and not been able to find a chair in the office
		to use that didn't suck.

  yandros: vmware for linux, $110
  jweiss: second
  yandros: I think that it would be useful to be able to run a
		Windows-based OS on an office machine without
		rebooting, and it can be useful for OS
		development/debugging.
  cfox: There are problems with floppies that may make keesh not such
		a good choice.  <we'll decide when it arrives>

  kolya: I read some of the multics tapes, and did some conversions
		that revealed some ascii text.  I have the
		documentation for a conversion program, but not yet
		the program itself.

  yandros: Rants a bit about the papers at the back of the office and
		people emptying drawers.  

  jmorzins: The CAC manager came by and said that they will be trying
		to clean the room earlier in the evening shift
		(11pm-5am), and they will be not cleaning the office
		if the office is empty.

  rjbarbal: The speculation is that the student offices will only be
		cleaned when occupied.

  fyfer: We now have an ADA-compliant doorknob, with the same key.

  gamache: Chomp is not allowing logins.

IAP Report:

  xela: IAP is over, we taught 20 classes, over 100 hours of
		instructional time.  I'd like to point out that two
		particular prospectives were mentioned as being
		exceptional: ingolia and d_wang.

  belmonte: The Crash Course in C ran, and went very well.  I'd like
		to especially thank jcyang and ingolia for being very
		helpful in teaching the course.

  xela: I would like to volunteer to run IAP one more time, with a
		deputy, and write a document describing how to run
		IAP.

CokeComm Report:

  marc: CokeComm sucks; there's no candy left.
  mycroft: CokeCom sucks; there's *still* no nantucket nectars.

Other:

  sipb4 (Tim McBride): looking for help teaching informal weekly
		session on SAS programming for Sloan school students.
		Contact me if you're interested in possibly helping.

Other Other:

  mycroft: I rode Acela this weekend.  It doesn't suck, but it's not
		as good as the hype.

  sly: I passed my orals last week, so I'm stuck here until I'm done,
		and it's my fault, instead of my advisors.

  jweiss: Blood drive tomorrow, wed, and Thursday, in La Sala de

  keithw: Today the Defense Minister of Yugoslavia was shot and killed
		in a gangland-style execution in Belgrade.

  jonmon: _Chess_ was cool; bravo to anyone from SIPB who was in it.
