Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 10/8/2001


The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by fyfer.

Office Report:
	jhawk: Pool cues showed up.

	tibbetts: Does SIPB want to buy a Palm V cradle for the office?
	hartmans: Do people use them?
	tibbetts: I don't know.

	yak: I tried to upgrade banana-sr to Mac OSX 10.1.  It didn't
		work.  Its CD-ROM is possessed by satan and if anyone
		has any ideas on how to exorcise satan, go ahead.
	hartmans: Everything he has said is indicative of hardware failure.
		Consider doing a network install.

	hartmans: It sucks that we don't give out VM accounts
		anymore.  

	alex_c: I'll be announcing the linux layered install soon.

	arolfe: We got more clustercards.
	fyfer: Are there any of the Athena pocket references?
	nim: Are there more iAFS?
	jhawk: No more pocket references.  Or at least, it's 85%
		likely.  
	fyfer: Send mail to sendpubs to get more.
	jhawk: We don't usually have them except for during RO.  
	fyfer: It seems that there's no reason not to have them.
	nim: We have them but they're old.

IAP Report:
	xela: IAP is much sooner than you think.  Please talk to us soon
		if you're thinking of teaching.  It's better to back out
		later than to decide to do it later.
	hartmans: When is the IAP guide deadline?
	xela: I don't know yet.
	jhawk: It's Nov. 2.

	jhawk: My PCMCIA modem now only connects at 2400.  This sucks.
