Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 07/19/2004


The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by jtu.

Treasurer's Report:
	jtu: He's not here.

Chairman's Report:
	jtu: We're still working on a few last reimbursements for the
		35th reunion.
	hartamns: It was really cool.

Office Report:
	jtu: I'd like to allocate $200 for foley to bring the film
		scanner in for maintenance.
	jhawk: Friendly amendment to make sure it gets tested with a
		known piece of film before it gets sent in.

Office Cleaning Report:
	golem: Is it just me or is the office slightly less of a pit
		than usual?

MIT Computing Report:
	hartmans: win.mit.edu is testing release 4.1, which is going to
		come out later this month.  This doesn't support WinXP
		SP2.  Go pismere.
	jhawk: Bill noticed that the same PXE boot server that lets you
		install WinAthena lets you install RHEL.  Unfortunately,
		it doesn't have sane defaults, and expects you to know
		where to find installation media.

Orientation Report:
	kchen: We need a tours sucker.

	jtu: We have an HTGAMIT ad.  It's in ~paigep/Public/.  We also
		have a design for the SIPB tattoos.

	golem: SIPB seems to be all over hitting on prefrosh.

IAP Report:
	jtu: I'd like to allocate $1000 for the IAP suckers (alien and
		natan).

	jhawk: Could the treasurer please be instructed to account for
		this expense in his evaluation of expencted annual
		expenses when he announces that at the beginning of the
		fiscal year?

		will be run by me and Sherri.

	jtu: I just recycled a flat.

	kchen: Ask SIPB is planning to publish during Orientation.
		There will only be four Orientation issues.  If you want
		to help, let me know.

	golem: gif and monicat got married.  And I returned her radio.

	hartmans: Next week is a good week not to be here.

	golem: As per my tradition, I will be out of the country during
		August.

	jtu: I'm currently working with Dave Burmaster and Mitch Berger
		to convince MIT to improve network connections to
		off-campus FSILGs, which are currently at 1.5 Mbps, as
		opposed to dorms and on-campus FSILGs, which are at 10
		Mbps/100 Mbps/1 Gbps.
