Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2013-12-16


The meeting was called to order by dove at 19:30.

In attendance were

Administrivia:

	glasgall: I move to allocate $230 for a ARM thingy.
	achernya: Second and white ballot.
	dove: I'm somewhat worried about allocating for new stuff
		without many people

Project Updates:

	achernya: On behalf of XVM, <allocation>:
	dove: White ballot?
	dvorak42: Second.

	achernya: The scripts autoinstaller is terrible. But now it is
		a single python file. It is functional. I wanted to
		start preparing for the SQL script, but I couldn't
		figure out how to plumb it in the old
		system. Hopefully, the scripts will be used with the
		shiny new website and remctl.

	dvorak42: SIPB CTF, in collusion with LL, MITsec, and EECS
		will be running a mini CTF on January 11.

	glasgall: We have a ARM machine that builds openafs kernal
		modules. Debathena-ARM is in progress now.

	achernya: Speaking of Debathena, Victor and I worked on some
		Debathena. Victor is amassing a multiarchitecture
		python script to build.

	glasgall: Also, if you have an old Sparc machine that you wish
		were running something newer.

	achernya: sipb-server-1 will soon be freed up.

	achernya: If all goes well, tomorrow, sipb.mit.edu will be
		moved on to the directors. This means that we will no
		longer care about the sketchy box on the floor of SMR.

	dvorak42: W20 is going to have a power outage on January
		2nd. Both quentin and jhawk will be here when it
		happens in case anything goes wrong.

	k_sunter: The last Cluedump went pretty well, we had about 10 people.

Other:

	glasgall: IAP is sooner than you think.

	achernya: geofft realized that he needs to think about
		828. Sometime in the next ten days will have lots of
		video conferences.

	dove: It's finals week!

	achernya: We had a snow storm.

	k_sunter: Harvard had a bomb threat today.
