               Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of September 1, 1980

	The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by William M. York.
		
	In attendance were BIM, RLL, WMY, Naha, RK, SEL, JPT, HGA,
		Steven LeBlanc, David Goldfarb, RDM, WER, and Jay.
			
	Late was:  GHuber.

	The minutes of the meeting of August 25, 1980 were read and
		accepted as corrected.  


	Treasurer's Report:
		The SIPB spent $6380.08 during the month of August.
		A total of $12,877.20 has been spent so far this
		fiscal year. 
		
		People should be making records of all transactions of
		money IN and OUT of the SIPB Cash Box.  These records
		are to be contained in the Petty Cash Log in the
		drawer with cash sheet.

		The SIPB had approximately $4600 available at the end
		of the last fiscal year.

	Chairman's Report:
		The Gray letter was mailed to many people, including
		The Tech, Wes Burner, and Prof. Corbato'.

		The terminal letter/proposal has been worked on some.

		The chairman was doing more moving this past week.

	Office Report:
		The office was waxed after last week's meeting.  The
		office was also cleaned up slightly.

	Computer Services:
		The clean_up program was fixed and improved with the
		addition of the -check/-nocheck options.

		We need to submit our programs to the AML again.

	Telecommunications Report:

		The McCormick LA36 was moved to the DSA office for
		their use during R/O week.

		The office will be getting a PDP11/05 tomorrow from
		JLK.  RLL will be talking to JLK tomorrow about the
		work that SIPB should be doing on the CHAOS network.

		RAR told GMP and RLL that the TEK4027 owned by the IPC
		will be available to the SIPB during the Activities
		Midway.

	Publications Report:

		Many Lisp Notes were found in the office.		

	R/O Report:

		We need to get our act together with terminal demo at
		the Activities Midway.  It has been suggested that we
		have a Macysma demo, an Emacs demo, and a Graphics demo.

		We still need confirmation from a couple of the sites
		on the planned tour.  Tour guides were discussed, but
		nothing definite.

		This week is freshmen rush week for applications.
		People should be in the office more this week than
		usual.

	Other:

		BIM was made an active-full member again.

		Nobody know the 8 purchasers of the new keyboards that
		the SIPB bought.  It was suggested that the treasurer
		contact CBF.

	Applications:

		    370: $100

	Other Other:

		A ceiling tile above the office was torn up by persons
		unknown.  The tile should be replaced.

		PAE will be back sometime next week for a week.

		SEL is going to Law school at NYU tomorrow.

		CAH will be back in late September.

		Jacob White left for Bezerkley this past week.
