Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 11/28/83 The meeting was called to order at 19:40 by rk. Given Sweetser, Doug: Had 200 wants 50 for text editing, resumes. Given Ernest Diehl: Had $250, wants $50 for programming: deferred until he comes to meeting. Secker-Walker, Hugh: Had 200 wants 100 for papers. Given Gandhi, Rajesh: Had 200 wants 25 for text editing: Given Einhorn, John K.: Had 200, wants 150: Given Diamandis, Peter H.: Had $200 wants 150 for a novel he is writing:Given $50. We don't know whether or not we will be able to fund him later or not. TREASURER'S REPORT No treasurer, no treasurers report. wcs deposited about 2000 last week, so we now have enough to pay for random stuff. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT No Chairman. (He arrives at the end of the meeting). Ramin talked to Jim Bruce about the Athena room downstairs. We will get three keys for induvidual people (security is tight). Athena Report WCS, CBF and RDZ went to an Athena meeting today. We discussed text editors and graphics packages especially the issue of buying them versus writing them ourselves. Software rights in general were also discussed. OFFICE REPORT The telephone bills arrived today. People should claim their calls. The dataset appears to be dead. It should be called in tomorrow. Call forwarding on 7788 seems to have been fixed. Office phones and calling card. RK thinks the calling card should be in the strong box. RDZ agrees. This card is ONLY for @b(@b(@u(OFFICIAL SIPB USE!!))) It is NOT to be used for personal calls. COMPUTER SERVICES Shift One warning message: Should we put it back? We took it away because we seemed we had lots of money to spend Move to put the warning message back on. Passes Wall chart is on the board. Put comments on it. TELECOMMUNICATIONS REPORT There is a broken terminal that we have not gotten back yet and the one at random may be broken too. StuCen furniture has been requested from the student center committee. The head librarian has not in during her office hours. We will keep trying to find her. She needs to O.K. the lock changes in the student center (to 62K). $150 to change the locks. PUBLICATIONS REPORT There is lots of stuff at Bean. It was supposed to be ready today. WCS will pick it up tomorrow. IAP REPORT Paul Rosenblum is going to teach the text course. He needs help. It will be taught from 7-9 every wednesday in IAP. Someone should talk to Leo Ryan about reserving the terminal room for the text editing course.
