Haque, Reaz: Had 100. Wants 50 for a newsletter. (originally autoed, questioned by rk. ) Someone should call him. Deferred. TREASURER'S REPORT No treasurer, no treasurer' report. Flaming ensues... spending: (from rdz) spb/spba: $12675/$30000 total: $86K user: 74K/120K This means we will spend at least 150K in the entire year. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT Julius has been nominated for membership. We have 8 voting members here. He wants to become a member because he wants to get exposed to computers. Most of this comes under Athena report. OFFICE REPORT We are running out of pink pads. wcs will get some more. The h19 came back again. COMPUTER SERVICES The TOOL. We want some way of taking applications on line. rk says before we do this, we should fix up add_student. Flaming ensues. Ramin flames about end of term appications. People who are at auto limit at end of term, should have money added, retroactively taken to ec. This is official policy (says rdz..). TELECOMMUNICATIONS REPORT Julius is appointed telecommunications chairman. Alan paid the terminal fees for Random. PKS has an la36 of ours and owes us $200. They claim they haven't used it since spring of '81. Student center wiring: we will work on this in the beginning of January. The service contract was renewed with DEC, rather than going to dataterm. PUBLICATIONS REPORT We need more form b's. We are almost out. ATHENA REPORT Athena is interested in student consultants to be in the terminal room and answer question. They are willing to pay, in addition to giving out accounts. They may also be interested in hiring students to work on the athena staff. There will be 3 levels of consulting: The SIPB will hopefully be able to give out "hacker" accounts for informal consulting. Paid consultants will be paid >= $6.50 /hour. Some students may become members of the Athena staff. lee and whbh are marginally interested. Ramin talked to Steve Lerman. There is a concensus in high places that the SIPB should come up with a proposal. It's unclear what they want us to do, but it's in their interest to cultivate hackers. We may give accounts for people to to mini-projects, Hopefully we will not become the student text processing board. IAP REPORT Bernie Greenberg will teach the IAP lisp course. We are still going to try to get people to help him, however. RF explained about athena lossage over IAP. Students will not be able to take labs from athena. ccc cannot help us with hardware. We may try to give a unix lab on our own. OTHER nil of interest. OTHER OTHER There was a winning diner at next house for Rick. People was amusing, it was lots of fun.
