Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 10/1/79 The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by CAH. In attendance were CRD, NAHA, Richard Mark Soley, DPC, DCP, WER, BSG, CAH, GMP, RLL, JIS, and the following visitors: Jon Taft, HGA, David Solomon, and Newton Loui. Late were ZRM, CWH, JCG, Dorothy, RMP, RDM, c|, JSL, Greg and ALAN. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted. ZRM, JCG, and CWH came in at this point. Treasurer's Report: We have spent $424.45 already this month. We spent $5420.29 last month. This is roughly the same as last year's September spending. RMP and Dorothy came in at this point. Chairman's Report: The chairman has talked to Prof. Licklider; there is still no advisor though. RDM came in at this point. Office Report: The office was waxed Wednesday morning. There is a stack of junk in the office; the remainder will soon be stuffed in the darkroom. The PDP-8 manuals were found. The table has disappeared. Multics Report: There is a Multics contract with Honeywell! New (but not faster) processors, 2 megawords of memory, and a newer printer. Everything else stays the same. We're getting rid of the bulkstore. This will cost $45000 per month (a bit more than is being paid now). c| came in at this point. The memory is due to arrive in May of 1980. A backup was done for us by Roger Roach over the weekend. JSL came in at this point. 370 Report: When you take a 370 application, find out when they will be finished with their account. ECS Report: () CS Report: () Telecommunications Report: Something is busted between the Student Center and Multics; one of the Telerays is dead. Chi Phi's terminal has been fixed. The spinwriter is still missing; perhaps it will back this week. The air conditioner was set up in the Student Center, but is not yet operational. Publications Report: An inventory of what we have is on the board. Annual Report Report: More has been done; please check the board. Other: There is a list of all of our 370 users on the board. All of the nuclear rubber bands have disappeared because of an accident over the weekend. ALAN and Greg came in at this point. Wendy Rowe and Greg Huber were nominated for membership. The meeting was closed for discussion. The elections will be in two weeks (on 15 October 1979.) Applications: Hoffman, Bill, $50 for text editing for Technique and for himself. Deferred to next meeting. CSC, $50 for minutes and student listings using RDMS. Approved. Alpha Delta Phi, $50 to keep track of budget, price lists, inventory, etc. Approved. Levin, Louis C., no amount, for 370 time (SAS) for studies of the stock market. Approved $100. $900 autoed on Student, none on ECS. $100 on the 370. $1100 total. Other Other: The membership cards are too big for the average wallet. We will look into getting new and better ones. Chris Tavares is expecting a tape in the office; do not do anything with it -- hold it and keep it safe. ACW was badly hurt by a nuclear rubber band; these have disappeared from the office.
