We are about to run out of money. Load control probably won't happen. month-to-date student spending: 24,187.62 year-to-date student spending: 225,323.22 month-to-date sipb/sipbadmin spending: 4385.45 year-to-date sipb/sipbadmin spending: <66472.65 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT JR was on WMBR. He bought some more CD's for $150, saving $70 in the process. ATHENA REPORT The first minicourse was tonight. Four people were teaching it and three people were taking it. Simsong wants us to complain about Beth Anderson. RF and JR suggest that this could be detrimental for us. RF talked to Cec in User Services about buying lots of modems for the Student Center and she was very enthusiastic. JR raises the point that there is something wrong with us spending a few thousand dollars on basic equipment for a $70 million project. RF is looking for C hackers to get a Scribe server working. RF thinks we should use the switch (which is currently serving one modem and one terminal) to increase the number of Athena modems we can have above the current limit of six. You cannot ftp to Multics when it's unattended because the banner has one extra line which confuses Unix. OFFICE REPORT The office is getting messy again. SOCIAL COMMITTEE REPORT The new Cokecomm list is up. We are almost out of non-Tab soda. Pay your bill so we can buy some more. The shirts are coming soon. COMPUTER SERVICES/More Athena Report What do we do about people who want to keep Multics accounts? Make everybody run request_extension is one possibility. Shift 1 has got to go. It is moved to limit Shift 1 to $10/user forever. The motion passes. This will go into effect tomorrow along with appropriate warning messages. One Athena machine had 19 people on it today. [JIS walks in] as we are talking about game-playing. JIS has the problem under control: "The appropriate people will have the appropriate limbs removed at the appropriate time." Someone tried to hide Hack in a spooling directory but JTK destroyed it, Yay! JIS has also set up accounts for all the undergraduates in the database. An account will be activated within one or two days of the user's registration. Our modems will aggravate the heavy load in the Student Center. The meeting was adjourned at 8:14 p.m. Minutes taken and submitted by WHBH.
