Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of Stardate 8508.12


	The meeting was called to order at 19:50 by carla.
	
	In attendance were

	Treasurer's Report:

			Year-to-date 5643.17 (I don't think Jeff reset
				the spending for ECS)

		SIPB/SIPBADMIN:
			Month-to-date 1735.31

	Chairman's Report:none

	Office Report:DON'T leave half full cans around, or empty ones
either, again.

	Athena Report:Bill and Carla went to a meeting with Beth.  You can
read the mail in ~gimbel/meeting_with_beth on charon.  Summary: We will be the
center for handling complaints as well as something you can send computer mail
to.  If we get questions re Athena, send to Athena consultants.  If simple
questions on paper, answer.  Computer mail, forward to Athena.  Otherwise,
report to Bill Hogue.  This is not quite settled yet; it will be.  For now the
group is the EC because it has no other function as of yet.  bcn: let's come
up with one person to be acting chair even though the whole SIPB is
responsible.  bcn: it seems we will be just filtering out junk- not really
useful for students; what we can do is to point out problems Athena cannot see
- this should be our official role.  Also, if we want to, we may put up signs
for help for ftp, /usr/usupported, other things that you need time for.  Olc:
individual basis :- Anybody can be olc in the future is where we're heading.
You can affiliate yourself withany group you wish as olc in the future but not
all of SIPB and not only SIPB will need to be olc.  Question is raised:
shouldn't the SIPB have automatic privelage to be olc?  General consensus: not
necessary.  Question: title of the student-athena advocate?

	Telecommunications Report:The guy from telecom came in:  Multics
lines will be in by the end of the week.
		
	R/O Report:Started painting drop poster- anybody who wants to can
help.  No one has replied to our letters yet- must remind them.  Also sent out
to freshmen a two part letter- 1)  describe SIPB   2) describe computer
services.

	IAP Report:Not getting closer.

	Other:carla thinks next weeks meeting should be Hawian. 

	Other Other:carla made amy's dress and it looks wonderful.  Henry is
wearing his Cape Cod Yuppie tie.
