Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 8509.02


	The meeting was called to order at 19:35 by RF.
	
	In attendance were 
		Voting members: carla, amy, henry, cliff, RF, aya, mer,
andy, ramy, alan bawden, tim, spook, the SCHUN
		Associate members: shahid
		Prospectives: Nancy, Annette, New-George (the transfer)

	Treasurer's Report: 

Dispatch is closed today, so there will be none till to tomorrow when our
charming treasurer mails it out to us.

	Chairman's Report:

None what-so-ever

	Athena Report:

Jeff: Our network died a true death yesterday.  The back up was bad too.  This
left the network in two halves; luckily, we had fiber installed between them.
Two rings running to make it work now.  But you cannot talk directly from W20
farther than tech square.  We need dynamic routing.

Jeff: 2 registration terminals in W20.  It loses however so he will fix it.
After tomorrow, he should have fixed it.

the SCHUN: Beth gave us a list of Athena staff people who Beth wants to have
access to the suggestion box but half don't have charon accounts.  Rf will fix
this by giving them charon accounts.

	Computer Services:

Spook will punt shift one for us.  We are now not spending too much, yay!

	Telecommunications Report:

Expecting more than ten LA36's in SIPB office within next few weeks, unless we
can find a place to store them we should take them to whoever can auction them
off.  Henry wants one for WMBR.

	Publications Report:

We have lots of tour and "Join SIPB" handouts.  We should also get lots of
NETS and NUMS, probably from graphic arts.

Talk to the freshmen that come in to visit.

	IAP Report:
  
It is starting to get closer faster to make up for that time where it was
stopped.

	Other:

The serial port for the PC must wait two monthes if from next door, but
Fuzzy will get this,  he says to think about geting an ethernet card.

Carla nominates Nancy.  This is her third consecutive, but fourth meeting.  We
will not vote until the meeting after next because freshmen will be here and
we don't want to have to send them out.

	Other Other:

RF and ramy went to tanglewood; remarkably, they didn't lose.

	The meeting was adjourned at 20:01.
