Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 11/19/90 The meeting was called to order at 7:30:00 by amgreene. In attendance were Voting members: blubaron bjaspan amgreene tanis cagoddar mlbarrow klee gamadrid Associate members: Non-voting members: Prospectives: tjwu mcharity rls Guests: Posthumous: dkk dougie jtkohl jtidwell tytso raeburn marc Treasurer's Report: The treasurer isn't here. CokeComm Report: Barry won't get more coke until after Thanksgiving. There is a small amount in the fridge now, however. Bring non-deposit cans to the basement of Bexley. Chairman's Report: BarryComm (Whither sipb II) has been pushed to IAP due to general lack of people having time during the term. Office Report: Thanks to Barry for the office purge. The fridge still smells really foul. If something smells bad or isn't labelled, feel free to throw it away. Dates on food are nice, too. The student center will be closed from 10:00 Wednesday to 6:00 Friday for Thanksgiving. Concern has been expressed that too many randoms are hanging out in the office. We don't want to discourage prospectives, but we also don't want to become the newest fifth floor lounge. It's cool for people to hang out here, but not if the only reason is so they can bring food up from Lobdell. A possible policy statement: ``The SIPB welcomes prospective members to use the workstations in the office. Prospective members are expected to show their interest in the SIPB by answering questions and helping to work on SIPB projects.'' Linda isn't here, so we'll have to deal with the terminals under the desk some other time. It would be nice to see them gone by Thanksgiving. MIT Computing Report: Various problems with the new login are being fixed. The 7.2 code cut is past. Computer Services: Nothing new on the Amiga or bloom-picayune. Mark Eichin has blueprints of the Institute and a program to display them. We need someone to get permission from OFMS to release them. Mike Barrow volunteers. Ronald-Ann Backup Report: Klee will do a backup after the meeting. Publications Report: Barry found gobs of publications during the office purge. They're in the box by the stereo. There were a bunch of quick ref. v1.3 outsde. They should have been v1.4 R/O Report: Nope. IAP Report: Nope. Other: The 6.046 take-home exam was way too long. Other Other: H.M.S. Pinafore was very successful. It sold out and there was a standing ovation at the end. The meeting was adjourned at 7:39:20. Minutes taken and submitted by klee.
